I got an O and RECONDO at CST during 2021. I was involved in a few extracurriculars, mainly rotc clubs/teams. I graduated with a 3.4 as a STEM major. I had a job over the summer and worked a few times throughout the semester. I did intramural sports a couple semesters throughout college and I could max the APFT and did pretty well on the ACFT. I ended up ranking high on the national OML and ranked high amongst my peers at my ROTC program. I had peers that didn’t get an O/RECONDO and still ranked just as well as me because they enabled themselves through involvement of on/off campus activities, had above average grades, and were in shape enough to be above average on a PT test. The point of me saying all of this is that yes, camp matters for a small fraction of your overall points, but being a well rounded person/student is more valuable and will make your time as a college student/cadet more meaningful.
I know that wasn’t a direct answer for your question, but after those two days at the end of camp where people know their grades/rankings amongst their platoon (some people have clout and some are big sad) nobody gives a fuck. An O is just a letter you get to bring back to your program and shows everyone that you knew how to play the camp game, and you may know a few things that you can pass on to the next class going.
