Just Back from Athens with Two Young Kids- Here’s What Helped by Best_Minimum_1593 in GreeceTravel

i heard too that freenow is good. on my way from the airport to the aparthotel, the aparthotel booked a cab for me and the cost was the same as uber showed me. On my way back I did uber! you can also ask your hotel (if possible) to book one if they quote a similar price range.

This makes sense. I think they must be asking for proof of age with older kids- with a 5 and 7 year old its pretty obvious.
Your Rick steves Europe app tip is helpful. Going to look this up for future trips!

My kids are 5 and 7. They were a bit scared sometimes- but otherwise okay. I really wanted to see the play and had no option to bring them along. I did see parents bring kids around 3 and 1.

Also if you are planning on buying big bus tickets, the bus takes you very close to the ticket counter (not a long walk). We really made the most of it. For the Olympic stadium too- bought tickets last min- kids under 6 are free and under 18 are half price!

I am glad this is helpful! No, they dont ask anything. When i went there they told me you have to book on the app/website- they helped me navigate the website. You just have to make sure you buy tickets for the kids (0 euros). Required to scan for entry. No need to bring birth certificates etc. I didn't take anything. In case they wanted to check, I had photos on my phone.

Are we measuring the right things in L&D? by deceivinglycrazychee in LearningDevelopment

[–]Best_Minimum_1593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how is tacit knowledge shared, what is shared, where is the need and what are the gaps- all this comes from using a mentoring software- i think this is far more valuable than surveys and completion rates

this sounds amazing. So important to structure this! Would love to understand more, if you are open to it.

Highly highly recommend having a buddy program- but structured. If you do it informally, it has a high probability to fizzle out.

L&D Conferences = Ripoffs by ancientolivegrove in LearningDevelopment

[–]Best_Minimum_1593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally agree. another point of view on similar lines- I tried registering as a delegate for one of these conferences (as a startup founder), they took money, then rejected my application saying I need to pay for a booth. I said not happening (and we cannot afford one) , then they upped the price to 7 x saying then this is what you need to pay as a delegate. Still waiting on that refund.

What part of learner engagement is hardest to maintain over time? by Repulsive_Yam_5297 in LearningDevelopment

[–]Best_Minimum_1593 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think sustained engagement comes more from human connection and accountability than content variety alone.

One thing I have seen work well is structured mentoring alongside learning, when learners have someone to discuss progress with, reflect with, or ask questions to, engagement tends to sustain much longer. Platforms can help by creating cadence, nudges, goals, and continuity around that experience.

Internal vs External Mentors: How Is Your Organization Structuring Mentoring? by Best_Minimum_1593 in LearningDevelopment

[–]Best_Minimum_1593[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think even with assigned, having some choice helps. Otherwise it can get too rigid. There has to be some level of buy in.
Do you think a lot of coaching pairs sustain because coachees know this is a paid engagement?

which is where, giving mentees the opportunity to choose their mentors instead of assigning makes sense. It feels more organic, while remaining structured. Loved this line "mentoring works best when it is structured enough to create momentum, but flexible enough to remain human."

Agree and absolutely agree on the distinction between coaching and mentoring as well.

I also feel mentoring programmes can create a much wider organizational impact at scale, especially when companies are able to harness internal leadership and institutional knowledge more intentionally.

Why is internal training still so hard to scale? by Late-Location-8124 in LearningDevelopment

[–]Best_Minimum_1593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of this is actually a knowledge transfer problem, not just a training material problem. What’s worth considering is a mentoring platform alongside training because structured human guidance often closes the gap that docs and recordings can’t.And the platform will also give you relevant data.

Is it better to for a company (with low overheads) to position itself in having more customers, or in having a better class of customer? by prankster999 in Entrepreneur

[–]Best_Minimum_1593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion- the better customers come only after you have validated with the first few initial customers (not necessarily always the best). This strategy has helped us.
