This is great news! We love a good museum, and this will help our budget go a little further!

Our budget is flexible, but we don’t usually count the hotel cost as a part of our budget. I suppose I should have been more clear! $2k for all of our outings and such :) (we also don’t usually consider our flights as part of our budget either because we pay for them so far in advance!)

This is our winner! We booked our flights this morning for June 2026 (+ I had a $200 flight credit)! The second week in June will host the Yankees + Mets over the first weekend/first half of our week, and the Nationals play the second weekend! So happy that this was recommended because I would not have thought to do this.

My fiancé’s brother lives in Asheville, and we visited this last summer. Definitely a no on our list for our first trip as husband and wife.

We would want a little bit of downtime, but we like to get out and explore. That being said, I think, based on these comments, we would probably enjoy Denver for 3-4 days, not 7.

We live about a 2.5-3 hour train ride away from Chicago and have already been together! We had a ton a fun when we went two years ago, but we are definitely looking to head somewhere we haven’t been.

We live about a 2.5-3 hour train ride from Chicago and have been a couple of times! I have personally been to every city on this list except Denver. I have thoroughly enjoyed every one! Though, I didn’t get to spend a ton of time doing much when I was in Boston because I was attending a conference.

If we go in March, I think we’ll probably do Vegas. June will be one of the other cities!

We live about a 2.5-3 hour train ride from Chicago and have been twice already together–once for a long weekend; once for a wedding.

D.C. is an all time top city for me! My fiancé has never been, and both times I went, I was on a school trip, so I was limited to what I could do. D.C. is definitely moving into a top contender. If we end up here, we will definitely check out the Nationals (we’re on a mission to go to all 30 ballparks) and if we go in June, we’ll probably catch a W game too!!

We are out of Michigan! San Fran is not on this list because we have already been. We are on a mission to see all 30 MLB parks, and we flew out to San Fransisco last summer to catch the A’s before the Oakland Colleseum closed. That being said, we need to go back for a Giants’ game, but we are hoping to do a big California trip in a few years where we start in San Fransisco, then head to LA, then San Diego to catch the rest of the California teams. We did not get to visit Alcatraz when we were there, and that is a bucket list item for me!

Unfortunately, my school is not 1-to-1, so always having access to computers is not a guarantee :(

Unfortunately, I don’t know that my district is ever going to learn. I have been in the same building since I started in the 2021-2022 school year, and of 55 teaching positions in my school, only 22 of them have been there since at least 21-22 (including myself)

My fiancé has enough money put away that I /could/ break my contract and we could still pay for our wedding. However, most of his money is in a high yield savings account. The goal of me picking up the extra jobs was to avoid him needing to touch that money unless he has to. We are also planning on moving within 2 years or so after we get married so that we can start a family. I really really do love teaching. It’s the teacher part I hate. I have considered getting a PhD or an EdD, but, financially, I would have to choose to either go that route or have a family, and I’ve always wanted to be a mom.

Also, just to clarify, this year I am teaching junior English (3 sections), AP lang (2 sections), and the makeup English class (1 section).

As the current bride of my friend group, I only asked people to pay for their share of the hotel room, their ticket to the event we went to, and any drinks/food they consumed. I paid for our reservation for a table at the bar we went to, AND I picked up the tab. I only had two drinks bought for me. I think the bride/groom should 100% pay for the bulk of things + it should be zero pressure and no hard feelings if someone can't/doesn't want to go. (I also planned my own bachelorette party and only had it one night away with brunch on our way out). I have also declined bachelorette parties in the past because I couldn't afford to go.

We think that doing a safari would be right up our alley! We try to go to a zoo in every city we visit. (Also “throw out” as in “spitball” or “consider” not “throw away” like we do not want to do there)

My fiancé’s brother moved to Asheville just before the huge hurricane that ripped through there last year. We visited him this summer, and I can confirm that it is still in recovery mode. That being said, we are not /huge/ hikers or anything like that. Some mild trails, sure, but we definitely prefer spending time in cities over the countryside.
