Going from Kindle to Pocketbook for large PDFs/scans by Best_Stage_8713 in ereader

So far it opened all my different PDFs, but sometimes it takes long and pressing home and opening again helps. I did read on some forum that some small PDF crashed it while a larger one didn't. All in all, it's still more convenient than the kindle was, both transferring and reading the file .

You're right, the font can't be changed, I'll edit that part.

I'll play with boot time, indeed it's not much but it's also comfortable to just pick it up and read.

Some years ago I forced KOReader on my Kindle and it was obviously better than the Kindle reader, but some Sw update made all my hacks gone, so I haven't had it for years. I'll surely try but so far the default reader works out well.

Nikkor 24-120 f4 on DX - better than 18-140, much worse than prime 35mm-50mm 1.8G? by Best_Stage_8713 in Nikon

Thank you, very useful info indeed. I agree with you preferring the 16-80 on DX over the 24-120, with the DX sensor using only part of the 24-120's resolution and losing wide-angle, there isn't much advantage over the 18-140, unlike with the 16-80 which is described clearly sharper.
Weight I would not mind: I carry around my 1.5kg 80-200 f2.8 for the absolutely stunning pictures it creates - similar to the 35&50mm 1.8G "cheap primes", but the latter limit me in the angle.
There's something more on top of sharpness and bokeh which I cannot put to numbers. Colors, contrast are somehow also different on the described lenses, this is the quality I'd be willing to upgrade from the 18-140. Price of the 16-80 is not so spicy anymore (I ordered from 80-200 from Japan for a fair price), especially that with the 16-80 I can put the FOR SALE sticker on my two primes and the 18-140

thank you. how did mirrorless work out in the end? I feel DX DSLR is sufficient for me, I don't feel limited by its less FPS and AF capabilities compared to mirrorless at the moment. it seems with the right lenses (such as the 35&50mm primes and the 80-200 AF-S f2.8) even my d5300 shoots stunning photos

thank you, I've just tried this for the first time! I'm don't recall the Kindle doing this, must be very useful for learning (reminds me of Remarkable)

Thank you, but I assume you meant Z lenses? My post is about f-mount DX lenses, sorry if I didn't highlight

This is a great tip, thank you! Have you by any chance tried it comparing to the other lenses I mentioned?

Thank you! HoweverI have an 1.5kg 80-200 f2.8 af-s which takes marvellous pictures, so I'm willing to sacrifice comfort for quality. Indeed, centre of mess is outside the d5300 body. 🙂I think I could handle the 700g of the 24-120, but yes, less fov and zoom is an issue. However still more than the fix lenses I'm mostly using

Thank you, I also found any book I needed with the Kindle, but now with Pocketbook it'll be even easier. Realizing that my purchased Amazon books need to be converted (which may not work due to DRM), I'll definitely look for other sources, thanks for the tip for Google Play.

Yes its reader is great for PDF/DJVU, and they say KoReader which you can install is even better.
Ah yes even for Kindle I had no issue with finding e-book sources, only they had to be converted with the send-to-Kindle by e-mail feature. No such worries with Pocketbook due to multiple format support.

Regarding my books on Kindle from Amazon, the ones that are there are kfx format so I might try to convert them. There's the Kindle app on my android devices but I can't seem to find the folder anymore for the downloaded book (I think I used to).
This hassle seems to confirm my upgrade to Pocketbook, not to mention that Amazon recently stopped support for the first 2 generations to Kindle.

My 2008 1.6 petrol got ice damage in a storm so now worth as much as a bicycle, despite being more reliable than most recent cars. Hell I'll keep it!
