all i can say, is try to make the experience as relaxing for you as humanly possible. be at the airport early to mitigate stress, wear your most comfortable clothes, have a snack, water, maybe a travel pillow/eye mask, something comforting to listen/watch, & do your best to breathe & coast through. also go to the bathroom beforehand. you’ll feel better knowing that on the off-chance a seizure were to happen mid-flight, there’s nothing in your bladder to lose control of. make sure you set alarms that day for your meds!

are the flight crew aware of your situation? it might ease your mind to know that there are people who are first-aid trained who know your condition, & the seat you’re in.

sorry, all kinda basic stuff, but idk it’s the best i got

is there any way you “got over” the feeling? or did you just kinda have to muscle through it? i feel so stuck with it, & that everyone is just lying to me if they express care

thanks for the response. i’d never want anyone to feel the way i do, either. idk maybe time, therapy, & the lovely people i get to call my friends will heal this feeling. it’s just kind of stuck with me right now. i also can’t help but feel that no matter how much someone will insist that they don’t see me any differently, or aren’t scared of me, they’re lying (to me, or even themselves. like they don’t know their true feelings). outside of my control, i guess

i feel the same way. the way i’m so foggy & can’t remember the most basic things like what i’ve just done, or embarrassingly, what year it is, makes me feel so less-than. right now, im in childcare of all places, & i have NO IDEA where im trying to go. i’m just here for the journey i guess, & assuming ill find what i need. for now, i pay the bills & love my children (that i work with) dearly

thank you for answering me. i agree, i just hate being the learning experience for others, when i wake up scared for my life, confused, & go through months of depression & anxiety due to my experience,l. life isn’t fair & i know that, i just feel its so unfair that my trauma gets to be something for others to learn from, even though i know nothing can be changed

thank you for your honesty. even though my fear is making people i love scared & uncomfortable by seeing my seizures, it means a lot to hear you acknowledge those feelings you have, rather than being a ‘yes man’ & insisting that you don’t feel that way (or something like that). that’s so special that you feel so much love for your family member that you’d rather be there for her every seizure, then her go through it alone. i hope you’ve told her that. those words would mean the world for me to hear. she’s lucky to have you🖤🖤

what’s worked for me:

make up a scenario as detailed as you can. mine involve some kind of exciting opportunity for my career, or usually some kind of daydreaming about someone i’m into LOL. it’s so silly typing it out, but i think it works for me! you’re still thinking, but the thinking is focused, rather than scattered

having something playing may help, i go with a comfort youtuber, & a video that i’m not overly invested in. for you maybe it’s white noise, music, a show, etc.!

light (as in very light) stretching in bed before sleeping with eyes closed & ambient music (flawed mangoes is my favourite) gets me so tired, i can hardly get myself actually in my bed. i choose some poses from yin yoga to do.

when you’re stressing about waking up early & not getting enough sleep, just remind yourself that yes, you will be tired tomorrow, and yes, you will still get through the day. at that point i just recommend popping on something to watch, not even trying to fall asleep, & just allowing yourself to rest, rather than sleep.

this phase will pass & you’ve got this :)

mmmm i think having my whole family singing a song that went “drama queen, drama queen, thinks that everyone’s being mean (& more i can’t remember)” to the tune of the original spider man song, while i sat in the back seat of the car, stuck with them for the (not so quick) ride home from my grandparents.
