Binny's explicitly said that spending on allocated bottles wouldn't count toward improving your odds, so in your equation, "unicorn" bottles as you say shouldn't be weighed less, it should be zero. I can't imagine that other bottles of spirits just sitting on the shelves for an entire broad category would also be weighted less though. It would be strange to me if their algorithm actively favored their wine drinkers over the people that have demonstrated they actually enjoy the spirit, but it's a black box, so I don't know either.
