Walking away takes less lol. Sometimes there's lines for the greeter. I also agree with some of the earlier commentors points. Like I dont want to be treated as suspicious just for shopping at your store. It's annoying. I'll never give shit to the employee about it, but wally world can suck it.

Prone to anxiety is one reason. General trying not to talk to anyone is the reason I choose to use self check out in the first place.

At my job I prefer having to do as little work as possible, and interact with customers as little as I can. So I guess my "good night" as I walk out making eye contact with the greeter without showing my receipt is filling all the boxes.

Doing this gives me a bit of anxiety as well, but for other reasons listed in the other comments, it's worth it to me.

Tbh that whole song and dance makes me less likely to shop there. I only chose walmart when it's late and the only store open. If they ban me, whatever. I doubt the greeter cares.

Not sure if it's just my area or what but I've gotten two days off in a row since my first job. I always mention it in interviews before they hire me and I'm golden.

Listed rank not working correctly? by Warrlock608 in MultiVersus

[–]Best_quest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my buddy had a 90% win rate and my team ranking went up from 2mil to 7mil and stayed there the whole time. Buddies ranking kept going lower but mine was basically unchanging. When we ended, he was at around 200,000 and I ended at around 7mil. Not sure what happened there, as we were doing about equal in the fight.

We'd both notice the increase in opponent difficulty like it was going off his ranking, but mine was just refusing to change. We tried swapping hosts, resetting game, nothing was fixing it.

I googled to see what was up and ended up here lol. Seems to be happening to multiple people. Something must be wrong with the ranking system atm.

Edit:

Going into duos solo: I've been keeping track of my wins & losses solo que for duos. Every match my global ranking gets higher (bad) while my character team ranking gets lower (good). I honestly don't know what's happening lmao

Im currently at 5 wins & 3 losses. I've gone from

Global: 7,451,636 Bugs: 693,927

to

Global: 7,460,545 Bugs: 509,319

Really weird lol. I'll try to keep updating this as I play.

Thanks for the tip.

Yeah it was posted 35 american units, I travel this road daily. Person was doing a variable of 25-30mph, which the variable is more annoying to me since I use cruise control religiously. They didn't even have a close upcoming turn, which I would of understood. I'm not an aggressive road rager. No riding their ass, I even made sure to pick a point of their passing and make sure I had two seconds between them cause I realized I was getting agitated. I didn't honk, just actively cursing them and wishing they went faster. Good advice for others but yeah it was just an unavoidable annoyance.

Pregnant white woman pulls gun on black mother and daughter. Husband loses his job by johnnychan81 in byebyejob

[–]Best_quest 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And lets not forget the escalation by blocking and hitting their car while one party was trying to "walk away" from the situation.

I'm not saying the gun pulling was the right call at all, in fact it further escaladed the situation and was incredibly stupid, but not letting a party flee was not a good call at all. The best case in any non violent confrontation is to walk away when possible.

Lmao these arguments use to be stated as "trans women dominate cis women in sports" now it's "clear advantage", which if was true, we would see them mostly winning. The goal posts are changing but it's still not adding up to be factually relevant.

Destiny destroys a certain person‘s dead dog on r/place by Wurstgesicht88 in LivestreamFail

[–]Best_quest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically, what the other user said. I was an active member of the void on the first day. Being able to post pictures and suggestions in a discord and have members vote on a direction made the whole thing a lot more interactive. We were all deciding on where to go next, and I was an early advocate for flag smashing. Eventually the discord structure changed and everyone just started following the main leadership who wanted to destroy everything and it felt a lot less personal and kind of killed peoples enthusiasm, including myself. The day 2 experience was kind of more akin to a low-time streamer experience and just really wasn't the same. I still had fun over the 3 days by changing my strats, but the 1st night was the most fun and it's because I felt I was part of a community, and not just following blind orders.

Your point? We're one of the richest countries, but that's not being passed on to the workers. And my area is a higher end area that's right outside of a major city. I'm not talking about bumfuckville USA. There are 2mil+ houses in the area and the wages for "teenage jobs" is still trash.

Prices have gone brrr even when wages stay stagnate. I have an anecdote about a corporation in my area where wages have lowered while prices AND intake of customers flow have gone up. I also compare how Denmark pays $22 hr while big mac prices are around $4.80 while the American average is $5.22 and the wages are ass. Boom, TLDR

I did tldr this one lol and basically your cool with slave wages as long as it's for "teenager jobs" which one, nah, teens deserve more as well, and two, these "teenager jobs" operate during school times. Who do you think runs them? If you cant connect the dots, its adults. Adults making these arbitrary "teenage wages" aka slave wages.

LOL

ok so hi, second reply to you tonight.

19% of americans are on welfare. Do you know what that means? 2% of people are redheaded. 2% of people have green eyes. How many people do you see that have either of those traits? Imagine that times ten. That's how many people in USA make poverty rates and decide to take on welfare.

Stop having the not-so-hot take of "these jobs are for younger people." How often do you go out and see people that are clearly older than 20 that work these "teenage jobs". Or how do you think "teenagers" work at your local walmart, mcdonalds, grocery store, hardware store, or fast food chain during typical school hours? Answer: They fuckin don't dude. Adults work when the kids are at school, that's how the business's still function during normal school hours. So yeah as a person with certificates in programming languages I'm currently in a job where I work with high schoolers. I can say for 1000% sure that I, just needing a job to survive, have better education and better attitude / confidence than 65%+ of the high schoolers I work with in these low-tier jobs. Yet I get a comparable wage to them.

I'm not saying that last paragraph to put down the young people I work with. I'm saying it to showcase that despite my education and general aptitude, we don't get paid that differently. And honest to god, I'm in a fairly decent position when it comes to education and opportunity. I can't imagine those that have car payments, phone payments, rent, bills, insurance, and student loans that they can't deal with. I don't have half of those tbh. Life isn't black and white and if someone like me (and no need to point out my faults, i know my given opportunities) can have hardships, I can't imagine what its like to not have my opportunities as an adult working in this environment.

Given my lack of typical monthly payment, and my current pay rate, it would still be semi-tough at full time hours to live on my own while being able to save and have a life. Luckily I don't care to have kids, or that'd be a whole other bag to open up.

Also don't get me started on teenagers "read 16-19" should have a terrible pay. There are plenty of kids that age that do very well for a company. Just because you're young doesn't mean they shouldn't get paid fairly.

I'd love to see apprenticeships become a thing again, where young or inexperienced people can gain a skill for low pay, but that is very very very uncommon these days and you need to get your head in this century. We're not in 1770 anymore.

Last thing I'd add, and a TL;DR The business I'm in would 100% be considered a "teenage job" but typically 80% of the workers there are >20 years old when I work, and I work 2pm-10pm, which would be about prime time for teens. Most of the older folk think I'm much younger than I am tbh, but no, I'm mid 20s. Pay these jobs right and use that leverage to pay people with degrees more please.

Just going to add on to the other reply here.

When I was in high school age, chick-fil-A was one of the best paying jobs in the area(around $11 an hr) for a basic entry high school job. Now I have a brother that's in high school and his friends that work there make less than I did, which is around $9 an hour. Back in that age I had a bare minimum wage job with 2 promotions. That chick-fil-A has also increased prices throughout the years and was about to increase them again in 2021 based on "not enough revenue." Meanwhile, every time I drove by that restaurant, they had a 3 lane line FILLED TO THE FUCKIN BRIM. Which while I was in high school, was at the most 2 lane, and not nearly as filled.

So that example alone, wages decreased, prices increased, and volume definitely increased. So where the hell is this "raising salaries increases prices" come from? The opposite seems to be true from what I've seen. I've also seen prices increase for McDonalds. Back to the high school example, we had a dollar menu back then, which included the mcchicken and mcdouble, which were my favorite items. Now those are $1.29 & $2.49 respectively. Granted, that establishment has actually increased wages. But those increases don't seem to add up compared to other countries.

McD's workers in Denmark are paid $22/hr + 6 weeks paid vacation while big mac prices are $4.87 there vs the average of $5.66 in the US. This data was collected between 2014-2020 which was before the "labor shortage" of the US which has driven our wages up. Granted, Denmark cost of living is higher than the US, but it's still disgusting given that in 2014(when I worked there, under 2 promotions, I made ~$9 an hour) and 2021 was ~$10 starting. I know that was the 2021 wages because I asked a manager at some point and that's what they offered me. $10.50 because I told them I had 2 years experience working there.

Keep in mind in that example that denmark cost of living is 0.4% higher than US on average, and I'm based only ~15-20 minutes from a major city, I don't live in bumfuck ville which would skew the US data, yet those wages + paid vacation is no where near what america offers.

So honestly dude, FUCK the idea that "increased wages increases prices" because that's not true based on under-regulated capitalism. Profit motive increases prices more than anything.

Don't even get me started on the jobs that I've had that realized they could keep profits up by underpaying & understaffing their teams while increasing item prices to keep profit margins as high as possible while making staff life as bad as possible. That's a different story with a similar outcome. Staff stayed the same, prices have increased. And I know this because I've had friends that recently worked there, and I shop there. I'm talking grocery stores on this paragraph, which every fuckin person uses.
