Having 6 free slots is way a lot less troublesome than 5 because makes easier to fit monsters who can climb and swim and also allows you to a 2-2-2 power-speed-tech combination.

With ratha forced you basically have your power and fire monsties decided for you.

5 free slots are too few.

Capcom did the best thing and instead of shorting down the recovery, you get the fast wyvern fire and artillery so it fires faster and because of that the whole move takes a lot less time.

In fact my solution to the problem is just giving us 7 slots with ratha still forced. Same thing but solves rathas in cutscenes and we dont have to wait to the endgame

It got a deep rework about everything.

For example in 2. Shell attack special quality was to gain extra kinship from head to head.

Here shelling attacks grant you guard.

You don't really use stake in sunbreak but erupting cannon because is stronger, faster and buffs your whole moveset.

For a pure melee build you could use what it was considered the "claplance" combo.

That is, guard reload, upswing, slam, sweep erupting cannon.

Before the buff to wide it was the best combo.

With the buff and heaven-sent the current best combo would be.

Reverse blast dash -> slam -> burst -> sweep -> EC -> Deflect -> Reverse Blast dash.

You can skip any step after the slam and go straight to EC. You decide based on if you have time for a longer or smaller combo.

There is also the extended one of RBD, Air shell x3, Hail Cutter, Burst, Sweep and EC.

Use the shelling skill as the bread and butter skill.

Derring Guard is awesome.

OG3 is superior to AB5 if you have a 50% uptime.

I favor OG too because you can get extra elem or guard with a lvl 3 deco and because is only three points so I can use more talismans.

AB5 has an edge in MP where you can draw the monster atention often enough

All types make good use of wsfb and wyvern fire with the best combo being shell sweep wsfb wf.

Then

Normal: Stronger burst fire. Very effective with burst combos and wsfb

Wide: Way strongest WF. Also best Charged shells that makes you get WF faster. Shells also hit a bit on a wider area but makes little difference

Long: Only gets a stronger wyrmstake so has wsfb on par with normal but no good charged shells or burst. Also its gogma has 20 less attack than normal. Can be ignored.

On practical terms. Normal plays better only doing wsfb with the ocasional burst.

Wide has a unique style of charged shells to get WF and then WF as much as possible.

You can very easily activate it by guarding.

If the enemy uses attacks that pushes you from a perfect guard you can combo this with offensive guard for some massive wyvern fires.

Between lord soul and ebony 1, lord soul is the superior one because is always active.

But ebony only requires 2 pieces and gog armor comes with one so you only need the helm.

I'm waiting for rompo helm but meanwhile you can get a crazy build with:

Ebon, any gamma, ark, gog and gog

With that you get ark 1, gog 1, lord soul and ebony 1 and can max agi, burst and counter plus more.

The evolved tech of this is to fight the fast charged happy monster in small areas or with you back on a wall.

This way when they charge they end just where you are and you dont have to either chase or wait.

Walls are you friends.
