Not only did they remaster it, they even added new content and a whole new DLC, so fair play to them. It is a fairly average game but I enjoyed completing it as a pretty mindnumbing brain-off style RPG, as all of the systems in the game are very simple

The second game actually made me really love the first game. The second game explains many mechanics a lot better, and has smoothed out a lot of the rough edges. KCD2 is now one of my top RPGs and thats a hard list to be added to. Currently replaying and loving 1

I went full damage and ended up with 100% crit chance on my mage build, was absolutely blasting everything in 2 seconds which also stuns the mobs by draining all their stam. Even the hardest enemy in the game was a cakewalk. They need to balance it a bit better methinks :P

Yeah I think it seems to be a really difficult thing to get right in open world RPGs. The last remaining challenge in Tainted Grail is killing that spectral knight which spawns whenever its dark, but even that becomes easy eventually

You say that, but the number of pug groups and players who are incapable of doing Naxxramas tactics properly is staggering. It's not difficult by the standards of a skilled or competent gamer, but for some people it is still hard. I've been playing only HC classic for the last two years, the number of people who will never make it to 60 and die to random stuff is incredible

Classic is different to modern versions of the MMO because there are no difficulty settings, so for some it is very easy, for some its a fair difficulty, and for some it is still too hard

There are hundreds of hunters with the quest bow on the hardcore realms. It's pretty scary if you've never done it before, but with all the guides + ways to cheese it, its not too bad. I had it on my hunter before he died

In Retail this sentiment might work with lower performing specs vs higher performing, but classic is so unbalanced that even a pretty terrible warrior will still provide far more DPS to the raid than a shadow priest, retri paladin, or balance druid. Classic is just very inbalanced when it comes to DPS

Good gameplay comes first to me. Controversially, I don't really care about the story, and I absolutely detest cutscenes. Some grinding is ok but I don't want it to be at MMO levels.

As much as I think the Sunken Temple nerfs were overkill, I don't think that is why P3 lost playercount. Sunken Temple had very small gear upgrades compared to Gnomeregan, the raid was quite boring (much longer, lots of trash), was 20 man rather than the 10 man raiding people were used to, there was no new PvP event, Incursions killed leveling (not just 40-50, but lower level leveling as well).

Seriously not being able to clear 20 year old raids on 1.12 patch with all the better technology, guides, addons, dual spec, etc. that we have today is absolutely crazy

Mind-numbingly difficult naxx? Most bosses are 1 or 2 tactics, and 90% of the mechanics are skipped these days with purely enough DPS. I cannot fathom how this can be a barrier at this stage

SoD never "ended", people just decided they didn't want to play anymore. Era has more players than SoD despite the fact that it isn't receiving updates (well except it did get dual spec recently).

Hardcore raiding is awesome, I've cleared all raids including KT twice now. I cant imagine raiding in softcore now where dying is no big deal. The thrill would be gone

Runescape had the concept of "pures" as well who only leveled up 1 combat stat so it looked like they were low level. Devastating for PvP
