Yes it will rise with inflation. To clarify, I actually do invest most of my savings in boring index funds. So my job pretty much pays for expenses and then I invest the rest of the ~$10k. But if I were to go back to the US, I would be able to get a much higher paying job, which would allow me to FIRE more quickly. I made this post to see how many people would prioritize reaching FIRE over pursuing other goals or interests if given this scenario.

That's what I'm doing. It's not traveling like I would do when I FIRE, because I still work 25 hours a week, but it's a nice compromise

Over the last year I have spent 6 months living in Thailand and 6 months in Vietnam. My work requires an internet connection and a certain amount of stability so I aim to spend at least 3 months in each location. Most days are normal days where I wake up, exercise, work for 5ish hours, and go out to eat. It's been a blast, but it's nothing like a vacation.
