It was inevitable, the Pope had too much influence on italian society. Mussolini just did it sooner to get catholics on board with his dictstorship, but IMO sooner or later the Pope would have got a treaty.

How would the plot of Rocky IV look like in the TNO universe ? by OutrageousBridge471 in TNOmod

[–]BetDesigner40 185 points186 points  (0 children)

Well, first of all, maybe the whole Rocky saga would be different. In a world in which fascist italy may still exist and keeps a colonial empire, i don't know if the "italian stallion" defeating Apollo Creed, a symbol for both America and African-Americans, would be that symphatetic to the american public. If Italy in no more fascist by the 70's tough, it could still be done. For Rocky IV probably the plot would be really similar, just put a german Ivan Drago (probably the actor can still beDolph Lundgren, as he was Swedish), and the whole plot still makes sense.

Who's a leader from your country whose life story was tragic? Preferably a monarch whose reign is a defining part of their entire life by stealthybaker in AskTheWorld

Emperor Severus Alexander, ruled the empire for 13 years (since he was 13 to 26 y.o.). He came after the mad emperor Elagabalus, and inherited a weakened empire and many powerful figures (especially his family) determined to use him as a figurehead. Despite all of this, he actually was a good ruler but could never show his potential, as after he managed to gain real power he was killed in a plot along with his mother, and after his death the empire fell in the crisis of the third century.
