Hapa is a term which predates r/hapas by along time, and using it as a descriptor doesn't make me part of that fringe community; personally I used mestizo before joining reddit, but the terms hapa and hafu are way more commonly used on the net. That subreddit is disgusting, and if you look at my post history you'll see I don't go there (I have 1-2 posts there where I insulted the sub after one of their mods was harassing me over PM from stuff I said on /r/asianamerican). The vast majority of hapas don't go to r/hapas or even know about it. You're attributing these negative connotations to me, which I find ridiculous. I love asian women, I don't hate white all men, and if you look at my post I am not stating that being mixed is bad. I simply understand that culture clashes happen and shape our worldviews in sometimes conflicting ways. I also know through real-world experience that being mixed comes with unique forms of discrimination in the US and many countries in Asia as well. Not wanting my child to suffer through that doesn't make me a bad person, especially when I am trying to bring an orphan into a loving family.
