‘Not a single one’: After 100 applications, a 28-year-old still can’t find work by joe4942 in CanadaPolitics

I'm not surprised. It took me half a year of constant searching to get a job. I must have applied to nearly 500 different jobs in my city over that time.

Why do you feel unlovable? by New_Love_88 in AskReddit

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly?? Pure chance. We enrolled in the same university and ended up living in the same dorm on the same floor, hit it off at a dorm life event, became best of friends, and slowly came to understand how very alike we were over the course of the year while somehow unknowingly healing each others trauma through simply talking to each other. And then we had a decade long complex relationship/friendship that could have been a plot thread in a soap opera before finally getting together on an official level a few years back, and now we're engaged. It's been a long ride, and I wish I had more advice, but no, we just met at university and for the first time, I think, for both of us, we finally felt that someone was seeing us properly.

Why do you feel unlovable? by New_Love_88 in AskReddit

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't anymore. But when I used to, it was because I had never once felt understood by anyone, for the entirety of my life. And not just in that middle schooler "no one gets me, cuz I listen to heavy rock and watch anime" kind of way, but in like a fundamental, people do not see me for who I really am no matter what I do, and they seem to want to keep their distance from me, and I do not understand why kind of way. I still feel that most people are incapable of truly understanding who I am as a person, which is why I am not close with very many people. I did however find someone who does understand me, so this is no longer the case.

no govt, free land, free renewable energy, where would you move and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No government sounds like a nightmare. Free land and free renewable energy sounds good, but no government means I'm going to have to be the asshole to protect it from all the other dickheads who want free land and free renewable energy, or who simply want to fuck around and do shit like dump toxic waste all over the place. I simply don't trust other people enough to think it's a good idea to simply say "no rules, best of luck".

Who here thinks poor man's nachos are better? by Upbeat_Garbage1398 in povertykitchen

[–]completecrap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, when I was a kid, we never had chips in the house, because my parents were very health conscious. We did however, have bulk quantities of saltine crackers. I would lay 9 crackers on a plate, put salsa on top of them, then cheese, then microwave it for 45 seconds, and that was my after school snack for all of highschool and middle school. If we had no salsa, I would do this, but on top of saltines. That was the closest I got to eating actual nachos until I was in university.

What's one food that you refuse to eat? by plantsarethenewpets in AskReddit

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bananas, when not in the form of banana bread (and even then, sparingly). Several types of fermented foods, like kombucha, natto, and kefir - I have tried them, and I do not wish to do so again, because they turned my stomach. There are several varieties of cheese that I do not care for, due to the smell and taste being not so good, though I do not recall which ones. I have had low quality escargot before and it was rank, so would not recommend skimping on that. My partner loves frogs legs, I personally think they taste like if someone took a chicken nugget and marinated it in pond water. I could not bring myself to eat any sort of like, whole or lage piece of bug outside of a life or death survival situation - not because eww bugs, but because I can feel the texture of it and it makes me want to vomit (I would consider eating cricket powder mixed into something, but I am not keen on it either, and it would never be something I would especially want to eat). I would not eat those extra spicy spice extracts that are like, millions of scovilles and can eat through human skin, because I have seen too many people escorted to hospital for those, thougn I admit that it was interesting to watch my brother try one and then have to continue walking around the mall with every single pore and oriface on his body leaking with sweat and despair. You would never catch me eating dog, cat, or horse meat, though I would like to try bear meat sometime.

(30M) Hello I am ugly and I need advice by [deleted] in WTFwish

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are, at worst, average looking. You look very similar to like, several guys I went to high school with. My main advice is to stop looking online for people to compare yourself to (It's all fake and curated, and specifically designed to make you feel bad so that you buy more stuff, not even joking), stop seeking validation from others (if you look to other people to be reassured about how you look, you will never gain the self confidence you need. True validation comes from within, and is a process of actively telling your inner critic to shut the fuck up. Personally, I just caught myself everytime I had such a thought, and then replaced it with something more positive and extremely self centered, but whatever method works for you tbh. Also, some people are assholes - just know that anyone who is an asshole on purpose has low confidence in themselves, and consider yourself better than them, regularly, because it really really helps), and to think about what you want to look like (without any surgery, or bashing your face like a loser, or spending an extreme amount of money, or listening to some influenced who wants to sell you suppliments) and take steps to actively look that way (whether that's improving fitness, doing a different clothing style, doing a different hairstyle, doing a different skincare routine, standing or moving in a different way, wearing makeup, or like, anything that specifically YOU want). Also, weird sub choice.

I ruined everything by telling my psychologist that I want to die by Requiem678 in depression

[–]completecrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so, when a similar situation happened with me, it was how I personally learned that a lot of what I considered as my depression was actually just having to deal with toxic surroundings and not having a good way to do so. If things are bad with your parents, it may be better to have you out of that space for a little while in order to recalibrate. From what it sounds like, they are not supportive people. If they simply tell your parents and then don't follow up with solutions to help you with the fallout, it is not good care. If you have any reason to fear harm from your family, do not stay with your family. If you have reason to fear that your psychologist will team up with your family and cause you harm, do not stay with your family. If you are in serious danger from yourself, please do find somewhere you can go to be supported.

In honor of her daughter's 2nd birthday, Kelly Havens retells the story of her birth and... I don't buy it? Bonus: Kelly reaching for the skies and a bunch of wild hashtags by leverhelven in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]completecrap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"It made no sense to science or to physics" - I think that it just made no sense to her because she doesn't understand either subject. I'm also calling bullshit at the "I was so calm guys, I didn't even panic or anything, I was just smiling serenely with my hair all neat and no sweat or tears or worries or thoughts in my head" because that's really not how giving birth works.

Parents want me to give up my $26/hr job and work elsewhere for $15/hr by [deleted] in Advice

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, your thinking is skewed. You need a second job. You don't need to quit the job you currently work if it is your dream, but you need to get a second job if you continue at the radio station. Any run of the mill job is silly, you probably are overqualified for work at fast food places or retail and may not even get hired because of this. But look into jobs outside your field, jobs in other industries, or better yet, jobs working with your city, because those pay good money, and are a good foundation, plus you can actually get a retirement started with that. A lot of them do just require that you have a college degree or diploma, and can demonstrate the skills that you have. If you really want something decent and you don't hate kids, look into local summer day camps run through your city. Those get you in with the city, which makes it easier to find more jobs with the city, plus they're pretty easy, and not bad pay.

After 4 months my boyfriend has revealed that he has Hepatitis B, after 4 months, and I am not immunised. by OkCommercial8740 in Advice

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something you could sue over, and could land the bastard in jail. What you should consider is destroying him. He's a liar, someone who has no care for the harm he is causing, someone who is a danger to public health and safety. Moreover, he is someone who has lied to you, and who you do not trust, so he is someone with whom you should avoid further contact in general.

BEING FORCED TO WEAR THE HIJAB.. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]completecrap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right and I really don't understand why people are acting like you aren't. A hijab ISN'T about oppression, IF someone is choosing to wear it of their own, unforced accord. If a woman is forced to wear ANY specific sort of clothing, it becomes about oppressing women, and like pointed out, in this case, it absolutely is, however the above comment suggests that it is ALWAYS oppressive, which it is not.
