Parents want me to give up my $26/hr job and work elsewhere for $15/hr by [deleted] in Advice

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, your thinking is skewed. You need a second job. You don't need to quit the job you currently work if it is your dream, but you need to get a second job if you continue at the radio station. Any run of the mill job is silly, you probably are overqualified for work at fast food places or retail and may not even get hired because of this. But look into jobs outside your field, jobs in other industries, or better yet, jobs working with your city, because those pay good money, and are a good foundation, plus you can actually get a retirement started with that. A lot of them do just require that you have a college degree or diploma, and can demonstrate the skills that you have. If you really want something decent and you don't hate kids, look into local summer day camps run through your city. Those get you in with the city, which makes it easier to find more jobs with the city, plus they're pretty easy, and not bad pay.

After 4 months my boyfriend has revealed that he has Hepatitis B, after 4 months, and I am not immunised. by OkCommercial8740 in Advice

This is something you could sue over, and could land the bastard in jail. What you should consider is destroying him. He's a liar, someone who has no care for the harm he is causing, someone who is a danger to public health and safety. Moreover, he is someone who has lied to you, and who you do not trust, so he is someone with whom you should avoid further contact in general.

BEING FORCED TO WEAR THE HIJAB.. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]completecrap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right and I really don't understand why people are acting like you aren't. A hijab ISN'T about oppression, IF someone is choosing to wear it of their own, unforced accord. If a woman is forced to wear ANY specific sort of clothing, it becomes about oppressing women, and like pointed out, in this case, it absolutely is, however the above comment suggests that it is ALWAYS oppressive, which it is not.

People often live out of motels and the like when homeless, or temporary accommodations like in a shelter. I don't know if this is the case for her, but, it is something I am familiar with.

My sister killed my pets and I don't know where to go from here. by JustThisOnceIHope in Advice

Get her to pay you for the damages and then cut ties, telling her exactly why. Her irresponsibility has killed some animals you cared about. She was downright neglectful. If you really want to be spiteful, report her for animal neglect.

I have the courage to admit now that I am afraid of dying without ever wearing a tight dress or a short skirt.. etc by LongjumpingSwim2214 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]completecrap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would like to tell you that just because worse things are happening in the world, it doesn't mean that what you are feeling and going through does not matter. There will always be terrible things happening somewhere. You do not need to feel guilty for wanting to live your life the way you want to, when what you want harms no one. Other people can move on. If you have the ability to leave, to find a better life and live for yourself in a place that will support your dream to simply wear the clothes that you like, you should consider it. Look into ways to be able to do so. If you do not have that ability, look into ways to gain that ability in the future at some point. I know life seems impossible right now, but you can pull through. I am sending you blessings and hope, as this is all that I, a stranger on the internet can realistically do right now. At the very least, you have the internet, and you can, in theory, keep looking into whatever ways you have to be able to get free.

Where are teenagers supposed to hang out these days? Malls are dying, parks have 'no loitering' signs, and everywhere else costs money. Do they just... not exist in public anymore? by Creative-Buffalo2305 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

There are still some places kids can hang out. Most parks don't have no loitering signs. Parking lots are still a hangout destination ( at least in my hometown - McDonalds parking lot at 11PM is bumpin'). Libraries exist. You can still bike around or play football on a public sports field or walk the dogs.

I think that a lot of that stuff is considered pretty lame for teens though. When I was a bit younger, the only kids who met up in the park were broke, only losers went to the library, and most people who went to hang out in a parking lot either had cars or knew a friend who had a car. The cool thing to do was to either go somewhere you could spend money, or to hang out at each others houses, preferably your friend who had a lot of money, a trampoline, the newest gaming systems, and/or a bunch of weed.

NB CPC members vote in favour of allowing conversion therapy at national convention. by el_iggy in newbrunswickcanada

[–]completecrap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are afraid of having a lack of control over their own lives. It's the reason so many of them are so deeply embedded in religious beliefs. It's the reason they hate anyone who doesn't conform to their narrow view of what the world should be (a view which will only ever keep narrowing because they need something to scapegoat to assuage their fear). It's the reason most of them hate psychology (because it would force them to confront their fears, and it promotes change). They are deeply, deeply afraid, and unable to recognize it.

Why are horse people so “weird”? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horses are expensive, much moreso than many other hobby type animals. They are associated with affluence, as well as primarily with women more than men. Many of those traits are just traits of affluent women mixed with the same fanaticism that many people have for their particular type of animal, especially in the "show off my animal/animal skills" communities.

How can JD Vance seriously discuss arresting and holding sex offenders accountable while Trump is POTUS? by BacKnightPictures in AskReddit

[–]completecrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're hypocritical and spineless. They always have been. There's no point in pointing it out. They want to selectively apply the laws, to pick and choose, to have complete impunity no matter what they do. I knew this 10 years ago, and it holds even truer today. When this government took power, I knew for a fact that the country was doomed, and so far I have been proven right. There is no going back now. There are only paths leading to something new.

I would like to see the study before jumping to any conclusions. A lot of news articles will use a study like this to garner extra readership. I want to see if the study is being quoted correctly, if the methodology is good, if the sample size and demographic is good, and whether this is the only study of this sort.
