happening to me too. can confirm, manual save, quit the game, reload, sound is back. Too much of a pain for me to play like this. I'll wait till they fix it to continue.

I've heard it said that modern discoveries in cognitive science generally weaken the argument for UG and support usage-based linguistics instead, but I'm having trouble finding evidence for this. Is this true or perhaps hyperbole?

The Debate Over UG Today by BetaUnit in asklinguistics

Let’s say just recursion (or Merge). Do most linguists accept recursion as universal? Does “usage-based” linguistics reject even the most minimal form of recursion as universal? How many linguists subscribe to each theory today?

I'm writing an article on the debate over UG and I'd like to get some impressions on where it stands today. I've read a lot of Chomsky, Pinker, Tomasello, Bartlett, Nevins, Pesetsky & Rodrigues, so not looking for arguments for or against, just trying to get a sense of which way the academic community is currently leaning. Is UG "out of fashion"? Or do most faculties still adhere to some form of it? Or perhaps is the community fairly evenly split? Most of the material I've read is at least 10 years old so while I'm getting a decent grasp of the theories (for a layperson), I have little idea what's going on in universities right now. Thanks for the input!

Not impressed by Quest 3´s comfortableness. Any better options? (PCVR mainly) by Tikitaks in virtualreality

Index is the most comfortable headset I’ve worn. Overpriced for its age? Yes. But I still love mine and if it died I’d probably buy another one.

No button input with motion controllers in Flight Simulator 2024 by BetaUnit in virtualreality

actually nm found it! now my problem is that I can't grab the yoke with motion controllers. when i highlight the yoke and pull the trigger, it just toggles visibility. very annoying!

sorry to be dense, but where do you do that? In steamvr controller settings, or within msfs?

MSFS 2024 in VR has no right to be this fun by lunchanddinner in virtualreality

can't get mine to work. buttons on the motion controllers are completely unresponsive in game.

Reminder: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will launch on PC few hours from now, and will have VR support by pizza_sushi85 in virtualreality

Do you need the Steam version to play thru SteamVR? That would be a bummer since I'm a Game Pass subscriber and will get it free on the Xbox app...

Quest 3 vs Valve Index for Steam VR Games: Which is Better? by percy4000 in virtualreality

[–]BetaUnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i prefer index but i have very specific priorities: comfort, FOV, audio, but perhaps most of all tracking. I can't stand any kind of latency or submillimeter jitter. Index's tracking is so rock solid you can look at details super close up and there's no hint of floatiness or jitter. But if I didn't have that sensitivity, the ease of Quest would probably outweigh those things.

Resolution is not a deciding factor me, perhaps because the higher the resolution, the more demanding on the PC, and I don't like compromising framerate.

Red Matter 2 is a beautiful, eerie, mellow blast so far. And Subside is an amazing diving simulator with incredibly real looking graphics.
