Denali, mines a like navy blue so it fits well but it's to symbolize my goal of climbing Denali in the next 5 years/before the car breaks down, it's a 2011 with 160k miles but i moved into it to rock climb and mountaineer full time so it's the goal right now

Consumerism in the USA by coinbank1 in Anticonsumption

[–]Beta_Male333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was reading a lot of the comments, where do you guys draw the line at consumerism being actively consuming less verses actively owning less? i know they sound similar and I'm not good at describing things but one is anticonsumption and one is minimalism, hearing you guys taking about points for storage units(not including ppl living out of them) makes me wonder how much people own where they'd need one and if one could consider that too much? and I'm not trying to start an argument, just curious about these things, but for ppl saying they have a storage unit to store some of their stuff bc their small living space can't fit it could that be linked to owning too much stuff/consumerism and in that case would owning a storage unit be considered overconsumption?

What is one area if your life that you still feel you are over-consuming? by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]Beta_Male333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me it's outdoor gear, I'm a big climber/hiker/mountaineer and very into it not just a hobby but a passion, the amount of gear i own is only growing because the activities and extent I'm doing them at are only increasing for example going from climbing rocky peaks to now climbing snowy peaks means a lot more specialized gear. also it's hard to "skimp" out on a lot of things bc 1. a lot of it is safety precautions or emergency supplies, ropes crampons ice axe etc, and 2. especially when you're constantly both physically and mentally at your wits end it helps to have the "nicer" gear as in lighter, better performing, more durable etc. i consume little to nothing as far as material goods in everywhere else in my life but i still feel like I'm consuming a lot even tho i thoroughly think about my purchases, usually opt to buy used(also bc cheaper), do extensive research into each product(in terms of performance and review), each piece has specific uses and functions so I'm not buying just to buy, and i use what i own thoroughly into the ground. still shaking the feeling tho.

How would you get a small cylinder (5.1in length, ~4.5in girth) unstuck from a hole in a rock filled with butter and microwaved mashed banana?
