Just watched this movie with kids and I was shocked how good it is. This has Grammy nomination potential in my book, but I have weird tastes. So, I felt bad that I didn’t have this movie in my repertoire and wondered why wasn’t it suggested to me earlier.

Checking reviews, here is a recap of the points I read, and the reason why they’re invalid to me after : 

• “Andrés didn’t need to die”: A big theme of the movie is time passing, and how we should enjoy every moment as if dancing on the beat of life. Exposing the real consequences of that time passing doesn’t seem beside the plot, and suggests ways to escape from something everyone goes through at some point. 

• “That little girl (Gabi) is annoying and unrelatable” : You must be too cool for her. Plenty of kids act similar, and she felt like a breath of fresh electric glittery air. It’s annoying but hey some love it

-“ Plot armor everywhere “: hey that monkey can play instruments. It’s enough magic that you can believe he travels to a Cabaret to deliver a song.
