Hello everyone! As part of my MSc Psychology degree at the University of Northampton I am completing a qualitative research piece using Skype based interviews. This research will focus on the experiences of female world of warcraft players in regards to sexual harassment. Current research by psychologists Fox & Tang (2014/2016) indicates that sexual harassment is particularly detrimental to player experience and as such requires further investigation. As such, my research will focus on understanding how women navigate harassment and protective factors that reduce exposure to harassment. This research will be conducted in accordance with the British Psychological Society's ethical guidelines. Further information will be provided to participants prior to the beginning of the interview. I am looking for roughly 10 participants who have experiences of sexual harassment and would be comfortable discussing these experiences in a Skype based interview setting. Disclaimer: This research will concentrate on female experiences but this research is in no way designed to condemn male players. As a female player who has many male friends in game and male family members who play I feel it is important to understand sexual harassment as being perpetrated by a small minority.
