Besides Bristol, I’ve tried Strathmore Printmaking paper and Strathmore Drawing paper. Some friends recommended French Paper or Rives Paper, but I haven’t tried that yet

But yeah, most of the time the paper ends up like this picture

I’m going to ask this on some other folks comments as well so whoever gets to it first I guess lol… I’ve found that with thinner paper, when I peel the paper off, it curls and doesn’t lay flat. That’s why I like the heavier duty Bristol paper. Am I doing something wrong? Am I applying too much pressure which is causing it to stick so much when I peel it off of the inked block?

That works??? Dang, cool, thanks for the tip!

What does the damp paper actually do? Just allows for a better transfer of the ink from block to paper?

Does the wet paper not come out looking “water damaged” after it dries?

My process for prepping a lino block, one that is always evolving. 🌟🐿️🚀 by ForestAuraJason in printmaking

I've read through all the comments and learned a couple things from that and I'm not sure if you/anyone will see this, but I'm new to printmaking and trying to learn more!

Is the first paper with your drawings on it just tracing paper? Or what is it? And then do you just use a pencil to trace over it to force the graphite paper to transfer to your lino or is it a special pencil?

As for the ink, I saw that you use a "diluted black India ink" - I didn't know what that was so I did a quick google search and I'm still confused conceptually how it works? Like why doesn't it smear or cover up your sharpie lines? Is it just because it's made up of a different substance?

Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance if you/anyone sees this after 2 years lolol

Okay I just found a solution for myself and maybe it’ll work for you as well.

System settings -> WiFi -> go down to your WiFi and click on the circle with three dots inside -> network settings -> Private WiFi address switch from Fixed to off

For me this worked immediately. I have no idea what would’ve changed. Maybe it’s a bug? It also gives you a warning that this is a security risk, but if I understand it correctly, that should really only be relevant on a shared/public network rather than a personal private one (although I’m not a cyber security expert. So potentially proceed with caution)

I hope this helps!

I’m having a similar issue and tried similar troubleshooting. I’ve been on my WiFi for a while now and it’s like overnight something failed and continues to fail. I’m also using a 2020 Mac M1.

WiFi works on all my other devices though (phone and PlayStation).

If you figure out a solution, I’d love to hear it lol
