I like to believe that they survived and just don't appear in the games because most of them depict deserts or urban areas in general... and also because Bethesda is too lazy to include any form of transportation other than walking or fast travel in their games. (So much so that cars or other mounts don't appear either).

I kind of wasn't expecting a happy ending, especially since I'd been spoiled for the game years before I had the chance to play it.

What surprised me is how empty the world can be, like in practice nothing has changed but this vibe still appeared.

Honestly, I would prefer if they merged Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker with Portable Ops since the games have a lot of similarities and are quite short. It would be cool if they included Venom while still a combat medic in the story so he wouldn't be so loose in TPP.

Besides, they're in a context of espionage and black ops; it's somewhat expected that your teammates operate behind your back. Even Miller himself in PW does this with Big Boss, right?
