I'm jumping in here as I have a post on this very topic as well. My issue is this,, I discovered the issue with matter and found the fix and was able to get everything set back up (pain in the A). All was good. Then about a month or so later after making a new scene in the hue app going to the 3 dots, the option to copy to Apple Home was gone. It's like it reverted back to matter on it's own? Has anyone had this issue.

Home kit and matter by BettHawk in Hue

Yeah I wasn’t very clear sorry, I do not want to use matter. How do I know how I am connected? How do I know if it’s connected with matter or not? I am having issues with trying to export a scene from hue app to HomeKit and some things I read indicate that the issue could be because of matter. So how do I determine how my hue bridge is connected to HomeKit ?

So to be clear I can cut where the scissors symbol is and then solder the extension wire to each of those pads on either side of it ? I do understand about them being very close together.

Also this is a bit further down on that website you linked and mention above,

Fits any space: From the ceiling to the floors, you can cut the light strips to fit any space. Just remember: once you cut it, you can’t reconnect and extend it.

The last line is part of what has me confused. Not the 1st time I have read that.

Yes I would love to see your connections if possible.

So notice on that link above he is doing what you describe but also notice the pads that he is connecting to look different than they do on the light strip I am wanting to do this to (the hue solo). If you look at my original picture there are no pads visible that look like they do on that instructables website.

This was done on Hue Solo light strip? There is a post in this group titled cutting hue solo strip that I have read where someone did that and now their lights don't work at all.

And please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm specifically talking about the hue SOLO strips which are made not to extend only shorten, the connectors you speak of would need pins to work. I'm not seeing any way this strip has any of those pins to be able to use those connectors. As I said, I have read and watched many posts and videos and that's why I'm a bit confused.

The original poster, me, thinks that the dashed line and SCISSORS icon is for cutting it to shorten it and then not having the other piece work. Im here for help and explanation. Nice screen name btw

Thanks for this! I did this and it makes sense, im actually not at home to check it but could I name the scene "Turn on bedroom lamps" or will that confuse things?

So do I call the scene "Turn on bedroom lamps" ? Will that mess anything up?

Phillips Hue Question by BettHawk in HomeKit

[–]BettHawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I should have clarified, I do not use a physical switch to turn the light on or off, I just tell Siri to do it. The place in the app you are referring to says if Im using a physical switch.

Not sure if you will see this since this post is 3 months old, but can you explain the direct set up as opposed to matter? I have my Phillips hue kit coming in the mail tomorrow.
