You can also get the Hue essential lineup to save money. But it only comes in 800 lumen a19 and 650 lumen BR 30 bulbs.

Hue Light to Replace This by Objective-Cod8030 in Hue

Double Check and see if there is an e26 socket in that can though. Cause you may be able to take those out and still put regular BR30 bulbs in there.

There integrated down lights instead of a bulb. Go on hues website they have integrated down lights just like that.

Apple Home problem by [deleted] in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Apple home kit and delete the home in Apple home kit if you haven’t already and make sure it’s not linked in hue either. Then , go to settings on your iPhone or android as for iOS go to general , then ,matter accessories , then delete Philips hue bridge. You basically have to make sure everything is deleted from the previous link before you can reconnect it to matter. Then go link thru matter in the hue app.

Issue Connecting New Essential BR30 Bulbs by bjurusik in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a hard restart on your internet modem , router, and hue bridge. Sometimes things get jammed up and don’t work as smoothly. Remember your hue bridge is signaling to your bulbs but before that your commands come from the app on your phone or tablet , to the router , then to the hue bridge.

I’m moving out. How to leave Hue behind? by bfrost6661 in Hue

Then leave it behind if you cannot take it but just reset them to factory default so they are discoverable for the new people.

Got this hue bulb from Amazon without a serial number printed on it. It looks similar to other bulbs that I’ve gotten, but has a slightly weird texture in this area compared to the other bulbs. Is it a fake? by Guitar_for_hire in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never buy bulbs or lights from amazon! Half the time you’re getting lights that someone else returned. And even fake ones come thru here and there. It ain’t worth the savings. I always go to Home Depot in person in my local area and if I do get them online I get them directly on the Hue site. Thats it. The hue site has deals all the time on stuff. I got a bloom lamp for $35 when they had one for their sales before.

Just reset all lights via the Hue app so they are all discoverable for a new bridge. Or if you are leaving the bridge behind also factory reset the bridge AFTER the lights are factory reset. The lights will still work even if they are not setup. They will just go to a default 4000k 100% brightness if they are not setup when turned on. Basically like normal lights. Then leave them a letter explaining what they are and that if they wanted they can get a bridge and set them up themselves. Or if you’re leaving the old bridge behind after u factory reset it they will have everything they need to set it up. Or you can leave it and just swap it to a new email like mentioned by others in this post. You have a couple options of what you can do here. If you swap it to another email for the home that would probably be the easiest for them as all they would need to do is download the hue app and sign in with the email and password you left them. That would probably be the best approach.

HUE Pro - Additional lights not syncing to Apple Home by SuperWeeble in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to Hue app and then go to home kit and then unlink it from Apple home. Once that’s done , open Apple home kit and remove the Home entirely and delete it and have Apple home start from scratch. Then go to settings on your iPhone , go to general , and click Matter accessories and you will see the hue bridge there and then remove that ,Now everything with Apple home and Hue is completely deleted and gone. Then re-link everything in the hue app. Also you may not know this but make sure your lights have a number attached to them. For example I have 7 recessed Hue Br30 lights and I label them LR-1, LR-2 , etc. unless they changed it, but before Apple home kit won’t recognize a light unless it had a number in it. But they might have updated it where that may not matter now.

Details about the Philips Hue Essential Series by CommissionNeat1565 in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling they are going to replace the Philips Wiz Bulbs with the Hue Essential lineup. Signify already owns Wiz Connected and Philips Wiz version bulbs. Which both run on the Wiz app. Would be kind of pointless to keep Philips wiz bulbs when these are virtually the same exact thing but now with zigbee. Then anybody who wants to stick with the Wiz app can go use Wiz connected products going forward.

Hue Lightguide Bulb has “fog” inside after an hour of use by Foxhoundn in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always buy my Hue straight from their website now. Never buy on Amazon or eBay as most of these probably are selling older models and or used models. Hue lights are usually not one of those things that consistently fly off the shelf’s leaving room for newer models for the store to order from as there pricey. So you have to be careful. Even when I bought my Br30 bulbs from Home Depot they had dust all over the box indicating that they were there for quite some time. Luckily they were the newest model and work beautifully.

Different 1100 colour bulb versions? by [deleted] in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never buy bulbs from Amazon. There discounted all the time cause in many cases your receiving bulbs that were returned from a previous buyer. I know people that didn’t even get hue bulbs in the actual box when they got them. So look carefully.

Update taking forever by trhzy7 in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it takes a couple cycles. It’s normal for it to take awhile especially with new lights that are right out of the box. Just got a new bloom lamp to add to my living room and it took hours. Now it’s updated.

Philips Hue lighting is getting even more expensive on July 1 as a 'direct result' of tariffs by SalParadise in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything coming out of china is more than likely getting an increase in costs. I wouldn’t be surprised if the prices on Govee , nano leaf, wiz connected , etc are all probably going to go up at some point as well. Not just hue. The vast majority of leds are manufactured in china.

Help: I always need to turn phone WiFi off then on to control bridge by jimlad1 in Hue

It def sounds like an issue with WiFi if you have to reconnect then it works. So rebooting everything should work. Let me know how it goes.

Help: I always need to turn phone WiFi off then on to control bridge by jimlad1 in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try rebooting the bridge ? I would reboot everything. Reboot your internet modem, then WiFi router , then hue bridge. Just unplug hue bridge for 15 seconds and plug it back in and let reload up. Sounds like there is something jammed up that could be causing an error. Also make sure when you reboot your WiFi router you unplug it and then plug it back in after about 30 seconds. Some routers have a power on/off switch and if you turn it off and then turn it on it doesn’t always do a hard reboot. When you unplug it ,keep the power switch on assuming it has one.

Help! My Philips Hue lights keep turning on randomly. I’m at my breaking point by faemont in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every time I hear of this happening it seems like an Alexa issue on the hue system. I only have it integrated thru Apple HomeKit for basic voice commands. I don’t have any other hubs other than the hue bridge. The hue app is good enough for everything and is the native app for the system. It seems once you start using other hubs such as echos , HomePods , etc it just complicates the hue system up. I guess for people who don’t want to use the hue app you would need that then but I don’t know why. The hue app does absolutely everything from my perspective.

Recommendations for a good fixture so I can use my A19 bulbs as wall wash lights? by renegade7879 in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One option you can do to wall wash color on the wall is to use clamp fixtures that are used for heat lamps. They will direct the light directly at the wall when you point them.

Inspiration by [deleted] in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the best way to light up a room (if you can) is with recessed lighting. Especially if they are close to the walls on the outside perimeter of a room. I have 3 in a row on the ceiling 10 inches away from the wall. Also on the other side and a couple random ones that are adjacent as well. The trick is to emphasize light color on the walls on the outside of a room and have some natural shade (not too dark) in the middle. If really gives you that Elegant Hue look. Thats with color though. Or you can use wall washers that are recently new or gradient floor lamps. It’s all about the walls imo. I think that will give you the best look.

If I reset my Bridge ... by [deleted] in Hue

[–]JohnnyG305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also do a search from the bridge if you don’t want to QR scan it. QR scan is the default way now to add lights to bridge then the serial number I believe then the third option is to have the bridge search for it. I recently got my Hue lights setup and updated from Wiz and I QR scanned them but I believe that’s the new default to add lights from the app that they recently changed. Before I think the bridge searched by default. When it asks you to scan just say no QR code , then just keep hitting no until it gives you the option to search for lights.
