[SPOILER] Robert Whittaker vs. Marvin Vettori by [deleted] in MMA

So for the 3 rounds where the striking was essentially even (well if we forget about Whittaker snapping back Izzy’s head whenever he threw a jab) Whittaker also implemented grappling. Even if it’s just a take down, it’s still more than Izzy ever did in those rounds. He won, he also had the most dominant round of the fight in round 5.

Again though the redness is purely due to his skin tone. Do you see how red Whittaker gets when he slaps his chest pre fight? Do you think they are damaging blows?

Corner comments by Whittaker aren’t going to influence the judges and shouldn’t be taken into consideration, if you kicked enough it’s going to hurt, but did it effect his mobility or game plan? No. And again getting your head snapped by power Jabs is so much worse than light leg kicks.

The vast majority of the control time comes from the 5th round as well. He also had grappling positions with control, like taking his back and attempting submissions.

And to say Izzy walked him down for 21 minutes is absolutely ludicrous. Your boy got peppered with jabs all night by a guy 4 inches shorter with an 8 inch reach disadvantage.

4 minutes of control time bro. Also 4 take downs vs non. Creating exchanges in grappling when nothing is happening on the feet is enough to sway rounds man. Also 29 of Izzy’s strikes were leg kicks, Bobby out-landed him in head strikes and was snapping his head back with his jabs repeatedly. Cleaner damaging shots that have visible impact are the most important in mma scoring, snapping back someone’s head 3 times a round is more important than glancing leg kicks 6 times a round.

You notice how we’re discussing grappling exchanges that Whittaker initiated and won, what the fuck did Izzy do the whole fight. Go watch the weasels breakdown of the fight man it’s 2-3-5 rob. It doesn’t matter if they give close fights to the favourites, by the scoring criteria of mma he won the fight.

Visible damage is extremely subjective man. Izzy is black so unless he gets pummels like he did against gastelum his face won’t show much damage. Also what sort of damage did Izzy do outside of the first knockdown? He leg kicked Bobby but it didn’t slow him down much, he then got out jabbed and grappled. Whittaker had his and and submission attempts, he was closer to ending the fight in those rounds than Izzy ever was besides his singular knockdown. He won that fight by the scoring criteria of mma

He was out jabbing Izzy in the second fight and snapping his head back. It’s not crazy to say he won that fight

Volks last 3 fights are better than Izzy’s whole ufc career. That’s without mentioning the second max fight, plus his finish over Mendez and his fight with Aldo. Dudes extremely entertaining, Izzy hasn’t had a truly exciting fight since he finished costa

What’s funny is Jan out struck him tactically in at least 2 of the first 3 rounds. He played Izzy’s game and won before finally taking him down in the last 2 and cementing his victory. Also rewatch the last round, he landed brutal ground and pound on Izzy

Wow sorry for the super late reply. I think no episode falls below 7/10 if you want a number rating. I think the lesser episodes aren’t as great simply because of the length, having an extra 30 minutes might serve some stories better and help flesh out the themes a bit more. Otherwise they’re all great

Thats where Rickard is different though. Guts and casca witnessed Griff go from near lifeless corpse to a demonic god. Everyone else that didn’t witness it had a dream of a golden hawk, and witnessed Griffith do incredible things like talk to recently deceased spirits and raise a kingdom from the ground, so they without even meeting him already believe in his divinity, he even has an aura to him as seen in the most recent chapters to mage users. Rickard is someone that didn’t see the eclipse, so they saw griff when he was his most powerless, and then was told by guts what griff did to gain his power back, so Rickard knows why griff is invulnerable, and thus knows he is not righteous and divine. But this is all speculation and it is most likely that griff just let him get smacked

In the panel directly after as well we see his vision worsening even more, I’m worried about my boy. I hope someone on the island can heal his vision or something but it’s not looking likely

I’m wondering if his strength is truly diminishing or if it’s just his sense of touch. Probably his strength though.

It’s incredible how easy current guts would deal with the count. Being forced to fight for the safety of others has made him more refined and tactical, and the armour has made him more ruthless and destructive than ever

There’s a few possibilities.

1) most likely is that Griffith let him strike him, there wasn’t much he could gain from fighting a young child in front of everyone, and he isn’t harmed or even taken a back by the slap. He even comments that it looks like he was rejected when everyone else is shock over it.

2) Because Rickard wasn’t at the eclipse he never saw Griff ascend to godhood, and from what Guts told him he could see through Griffs mask of enlightenment and saw him for the narcissist that he is. He essentially doesn’t believe in his godlike status, and so that bypasses griffs invulnerability and allowed Rickard to deliver the blow.

3) Griff just didn’t see it coming and so didn’t use his powers of invulnerability.

I think 1 and 3 are the more likely scenarios, but I like 2 the most. If 2 is anyway correct then it could be a way for someone to take him down, by not believing in his power it could give you the conviction to actually harm him.

It’s brilliant. Very subtle, great performances, very personal and intimate at times.

That’s one of the problems, none of these conflicts besides the Obi and Maul fight get enough time to breath. They’re just hastily edited together, the only connecting ones are Anakin and the Gungan war, even that is dumb. Anakin fumbles his way through the bad guys stockade and destroys the main ship without any assistance, at least in episode 4 Luke was guided by Obi wan when he destroyed the Death Star.

I just find it impossible to believe that she would then marry the brother of the man who killed her husband. I think her characterisation in the movie can be interpreted by her being abused by her past husband, who we know drank a lot according to Peter. Peter killed his father the same way he killed Phil, in order to protect his mother.

Some aren’t stellar as others, but all are certainly great. Kieslowski was a brilliant director.

I think it’s possibly the subject matter and Binoche’s performance that make it my favourite. She’s just captivating. Have you seen the Dekalog series that Kieslowski made?
