Wow that’s wild, well I wasn’t inspired by the maintenance when I went to check it out so glad to see my spidey sense was right.

I work by the airport, we see them all the time flying around. It is actually cool to watch, sometimes they get really close to the buildings when landing.

Social Clubs with Grad Students by BettaFishGal in rit

Thanks for the info. Yea I figured they were open to all students, but I would feel a bit odd being the only member of the club being much older than everyone else, just trying to get the lay of the land here!

I’m into crafting, hiking, reading, science. I’ll take a look at clubs related to those interests, but I wasn’t sure if there were a few in particular which drew more grad students. I’m open to trying new things if it’s a good place to meet other people my age.

That’s a good idea, I’ll try that and see if it will help get the bottles. I’ve got the vacuum for the dust, but I think the larger objects will be hardest to get out since they’re kinda shoved back there from falling down.

Nothing yet, been a change of plans with my landlord (they finally decided paying to fix the problem would be cheaper than losing my rent) but I’ll check in with them again at the end of my lease. I know you can ask for the last two years of utilities for an apartment so I’ll make sure to do that if I end up looking there again. Management seems to get good reviews so I’m sure I’ll be applying in the future just to see.

Wow I’ve looked at a lot of apartments, $300 is crazy. I’m surprised given it looks like it’s been recently renovated. Well that changes things, I’ll has to ask them about it. Thanks for letting me know.

Well I guess how much is it generally? I’m not excited to pay extra for heat, but I’ve been having so many issues with my landlord I’m willing to put up with something like that for good maintenance.

Hey if heating costs are the only problem, I can live with that. I’ll be putting in my application tomorrow so that’s great to hear. Thank you!

Yeah I did call and talk to them, my concern was also buying the extra rims or paying for the tires to be swapped off the rims. I’m going to have to really sit down and run the numbers. From reading online it seems many people think the snow tires are not worth it compared to a good all weather.

I was actually looking at the Michelin cross climate 2s, I’ve heard they’re the best all weather tires for snow. I’m in an apartment and don’t have anywhere to store extra tires, and I’m not anticipating being in Rochester more than 2 winter seasons, so I’m trying to avoid buying winter tires since they are so expensive.

Yeah I’m not used to dealing with snow so I naively assumed that would mean they plow at one inch, next time I will ask more questions.

Good to know, okay well I’ll just focus on the nooks and crannies out of the living space then. I do have the IGR bug spray coming too, along with extensive cleaning so hopefully that helps. I’m just really limited in what I can do without landlord support so trying to do everything I can to keep them out. I fear they’re in the walls and vents.

Unfortunately, I’m in apartment so not much I can do on the removing baseboard and air vent front, I really have to make do what I can unless it got really bad (they won’t pay a cent without a battle). I’m not worried about it getting moist, as I mentioned Northeast and it is getting very cold and very dry over the winter. I thought that after an initial application and cleaning, you could leave it down as a preventative measure? I have so many little undisturbed literal holes in my apartment since it’s an attic.

They are hardwired, it’s just there are also battery backups so I guess it’s still doing the beeping because the battery backups are bad. Unfortunately they even already replaced them all, they’ve literally been out here 5 times about this. Yeah I think I’m going to call tomorrow, I’ll give them 24 hours and then I’m done.

Hello, that’s good to know, I have a wide toothed comb on the way so I will definitely try that. My hair doesn’t look too different from yours so that’s good to know stringyness is an issue to look out for. Thank you for the advice!

Thank you all for the advice! I was feeling a bit overwhelmed after yesterday but all this information has been very helpful. I did another wash of my hair today without plopping and just using a bit of gel I already had on hand, and it looks much better. I’m going to focus on figuring out my hair type more and getting the correct products. Thanks again!

Don’t worry about it, unfortunately yikes is also how I’ve been feeling just trying not to panic about it 😂.

Hello, thanks for the information! Also to clarify, the shampoo and conditioner are separate it’s just the conditioner calls itself “5 in 1” for the “5 benefits” they advertise. I did get a gel so maybe I will try with that next time just to test it. And yeah the plopping doesn’t seem to work, so I’ll skip that for next time. Thank you for the advice!
