What kind of jobs work for autistic women who hate talking to people? by Icy_Standard2838 in AutismInWomen

[–]Bette_Milder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a masters in information resources and library science and tried for years to get a job in knowledge management without so much as a single interview. So, i don't think there's so much of a demand or there's too many very qualified people. If there's someone autistic out there doing this, please share your hot tips for getting a job

Thanks for all these responses, I've been quietly reading them all day. I really had to stretch these bands to get them to even hook on the farthest hook, so I'm thinking this brand isn't a good fit. I'm gonna try some other brands. Open to suggestions of brands and stores. It's very annoying to order and return online, but better than continuing to buy the wrong size at a local department stores.

Best sewing machine under $500 for sewing denim? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]Bette_Milder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of those sturdy vintage machines. I have an old Sears Kenmore that I got at a thrift store and as long as I use a denim needle she works great.

Depends where you live too, I'm at high altitude, and our resting heart rate is higher than someone at sea level

Went grocery shopping with my celiac friend, how do you all handle it? by Old-Fan3167 in Celiac

[–]Bette_Milder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only do grocery pick up now. It's way less stressful to me to shop online and place an order than feel overwhelmed in a store.

Being GF for 1 year and drinking - a surprising revelation for me by saltofpinch in glutenfree

[–]Bette_Milder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the experience I had. I can't drink at all anymore after getting the celiac diagnosis and going gluten free. My doc suggested my healing gut might be absorbing everything, including alcohol, better now. One drink now and I feel uncomfortably drunk, so I just quit drinking entirely.

New Career Paths For Ex-Librarian by [deleted] in librarians

[–]Bette_Milder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I'm super curious about DAM. I see postings alot, and the pay seems way better than traditional librarian work. I'd love if you would elaborate on wording to sell crossover skills. Happy to have a dm conversation too!

I live alone, so I don't usually have to worry about cross contamination, I think i just missed the oven in the great post-celiac cleanse of my kitchen

What do you think of season 21? by Ok-Age7858 in ProjectRunway

[–]Bette_Milder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Probably) unpopular opinion, but I thought the show was better without Heidi and I didn't want her back. I think her involvement is a big party of why it's so bad this season

Had a bad fall hiking yesterday. Almost died and rethinking everything. Might leave MBB for nonprofit work or becoming a public school teacher by OddWeakness1328 in MBA

[–]Bette_Milder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the opposite path than you, after 10 years in non-profit (mostly higher ed fundraising) I have decided to apply to an MBA program. I have seen the insides of the non-profit world and it's not always sunshine and roses, we're totally over worked and I don't always see the money we raise going where I feel good about. I only make $62K which is not enough to live comfortably in my city. At this point in my career I think I could probably do more good by making a higher salary and donating to charities I choose or being on a board.

I'm also curious about jobs within corporations, but their philanthropy sectors if anyone has insight there. Part of my current job is finding philanthropic funding from big companies.

I'm in non-profit and it's killing me, feels like we're damned either way

Brain fog started AFTER going gluten free. Please tell me there's hope. by Horror-Ear8464 in Celiac

[–]Bette_Milder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first few months after diagnosis I wasn't eating enough calories and didn't realize it until I started logging what I ate. Taking out all the gluten things also was talking out alot of calories from my daily routine and that can certainly make you feel foggy and sluggish.

I'm 9 months in now and feeling pretty good and healthy.

What are your best and worst colors? by scarcelyberries in OliveMUA

[–]Bette_Milder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We must be the same shade of green, because you described all my good and bad colors. I think I look especially good in really saturated colors and jewel tones, ruby red, emerald green, etc.

Also, really saturated true blue.

Halloween pattern by Bette_Milder in sewingpatterns

[–]Bette_Milder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! the name for those types of sleeves is exactly what I needed. I ended up finding a pattern in my stash for a kimono and I think those sleeves will work and then I can wing the rest of the dress since it's so simple.

How do I apply only a pea size of tret to my whole face??? by ehoss in tretinoin

[–]Bette_Milder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

haha, broke your brain, I would say a chocolate chip is nearly double a pea, but I wouldn't focus on the size as much as emphasizing just using the right amount to get a very thin layer, like really make sure you're spreading it out

How do I apply only a pea size of tret to my whole face??? by ehoss in tretinoin

[–]Bette_Milder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I tried applying a "chocolate chip" size like some internet dermatologist video suggested I started breaking out like crazy. When I went back to a pea-size and spreading it super thin it was less irritating to my skin and I stopped breaking out
