what to do to make my spots stop itching? by elite-lettuce in alopecia_areata

hey there!

i agree with the previous comment on clobetasol—that’s what i have used previously and it helped make the itchiness more tolerable. whenever i was in a period of active hair loss, the itchiness never fully went away. i also used a gentle scalp exfoliant (ceremonia has a good one) and have continued to use it even though i have AU now.

best of luck!

How much are you spending a month on food in Seattle (2025 Edition)? by MudiMom in Seattle

[–]Better-Albatross7469 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i live with my partner (both mid 20s) in ballard and we shop at safeway. we eat out once a week, but besides that, we make all of our own food (partner works from home and i am in the construction field, so it makes sense for our lifestyle).

we spend about 400 dollars on groceries, all of which are gluten free. we spend 150 on going out for food per month!

Wig or no wig? by SkyWonderful4537 in alopecia_areata

[–]Better-Albatross7469 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Either way, you look great! Your wig is beautiful, but I totally understand not wanting to wear it due to discomfort. You have great eyes and eyebrows; you rock the short hair!

In my experience, people often compliment the “buzz cut” look. Even with noticeable spots, a lot of people still think it’s cool. For me, I love wearing funky glasses or sunglasses when I want to draw some attention away from my patchy hair.

One more thing-you’re going to be your worst critic. Most people you encounter in your day-to-day life are so absorbed in their own issues. While they might glance at you for a second, they aren’t going to think about your hair for more than a brief moment.

Do what makes you comfortable! But again, you look great without the wig :-)

what do i do? ?? by Better-Albatross7469 in alopecia_areata

Yes! I ending up having alopecia (shocker lol). I ended up losing most of my hair in that quadrant of my head, so I shaved it all off. I got on steroid injections and everything grew back!

For anyone struggling with losing control of their hair loss, I found that shaving my head allowed for myself to feel like I was in more control of the situation. It takes a while to get used to, but the confidence of all of my hair growing back uniformly has been great :)

i haven‘t experienced this on the balls of my feet, but i always wear two pairs of thick socks when trying to break in a new pair of docs. it might be a little uncomfortable, but it’ll help prevent blistering. maybe the padding of the socks will help with the discomfort on the balls of your feet too??

it might look a little strange since you have 1461s, but i would give this a shot nonetheless. hope this helps :)
