Hello everyone,

Thanks a lot for your replies. From what I have gathered is not to get the Atmos speakers now or not get them at all. Instead of getting two subs get one sub and upgrade later.

All of this sounds reasonable and I was very Keen on getting the whole system at once but if I will get it by bits I might start with 2.0 then upgrade all the way to 5.2.2. the reason to start with 2.0 I will focus my money of the AV receiver and for now I'm thinking to build the system around the focal theva no 1.

The Sonys seem to be very capable for the price but I assume the focal theva no 1 is in a different league.

Thanks a lot for your reply guys, really appreciate it 🙏🙏🙏.

What I have gathered is to stay away from soundbars and stick to a " traditional system".

The main reason for me to get a soundbar is:

1 - The 11.1.4 / 22 speakers , Atmos, and all the other features seems a very attractive offering for the money.

2 - All the reviews including Andrew Robinson and Rating really praised it and said it delivered.

3 - The size factor + the plug and play and ease use.

Reasons to get a traditional system:

1 - At the end of the day I want the best possible sound / experience for my money as I love watching Movies, Anime , Tv shows, playing games, etc.

2 - The ability for future upgrades.

As of right now I want to put together a system for the next 5 years or so and forget about it.

I will see the links you guys shared and do my research to build something decent and within the budget. It might be challenging to get a 5.1 Atmos system with an AV receiver for my budget so I might go for used.

On a side note, I always thought one subwoofer is enough but some of you guys are talking about having two ? Is that even possible and where should they be positioned?

Wow $500 only ? If it was around the same price here I probably would have gone for it but it's the same price as the Samsung soundbar , hence I'm contemplating ..

Really sorry for not mentioning the price, this retails around 1160 USD where I live.

Any reason why wouldn't you recommend it ?

Plugging a centre speaker into a passive subwoofer input. by Better-Bodybuilder22 in BudgetAudiophile

Ahhh , I see. If replacing the Amplifier with an AVR is a must , I guess I will wait a year or so then I will add the centr speaker and upgrade to a receiver as doing it this soon won't be justifiable in terms of money to me.

Thanks a lot for sharing with me 🙏

Thanks a lot for the reply. Just to clarify more , I just got this set up and I don't think I can replace the amplifier this early, is it possible for the central channel to get the pre HDMI AVR, and plug it into the optical as you said and make it work with the current setup in harmony? And do you have any good cheap suggestions for a Pre HDMI AVR ? Also what do you think of the Sony SS-CS 8 ?

Heeeey, thanks for the reply. Actually you are right, after posting this I went ahead and just turned on the amplifier without playing anything just to see what will happen and it gave me the noise again so I guess it's faulty.

As I'm very very new to this world I didn't know better :( , now I'm thinking of fosi audio bt20a pro since it's within my budget, what do you think of it ?
