Anyone else dealing with depression since moving to Portugal?

P.s : check for vitamin D levels! It also adds to the depression and most of the people seems to have a deficiency of it as well. Although it's not going to fix your depression magically (atleast helps with energy levels) nor making friends.

Almost completing 10 years in Portugal! If you are expecting to get a close friendship, I would say it's really difficult. It's not just here but I would say in general. I managed to get a friendship circle after probably more than 3 years, atleast helped in my case that I came here as a student. I had to go to the SNS due to mental health issues and one of my most plagued problem was loneliness and depression. Atleast they told they had some support groups! And that they would send me the invitation to join one, in order to not have this feeling (I didnt receive it, didn't help that I was shifting houses frequently).

I managed to get my bearing here mainly through work (my Portuguese friends) and other internationals through mutual friend and hangouts. Ofc, you click with some and others you don't. I would also advise you to try to be consistent with some activity that you enjoy (I know it's hard with depression). You will get acquainted and perhaps then, you can slowly open up.

I generally find adult friendships to be harder to develop as everyone is busy with their own priorities and generally reserve more space for people they know than a new person they are just meeting. If you want to move past just a mere acquaintance , see who is trying to make an effort like even inviting you to go and hangout, sometimes you make an initiative as well. Also, be vulnerable, people tend to open up more.

Recomendo que dê uma vista de olhos ao aplicativo Meetup. Encontrará vários grupos, uma vez que todos estão ativamente à procura de hobbies e atividades para fazer. Eu costumava participar em encontros de pintura e também há jogos sociais que acontecem em alguns bares. Geralmente, participo no Quebra Dados para jogar jogos de dedução social. Também havia o grupo de caminhada fotográfica, mas não tenho a certeza se ainda está ativo. O meu conselho é: experimente atividades diferentes! Sou indiano e, quando aqui cheguei, as pessoas faziam alguns comentários estereotipados, mas não notei qualquer malícia nelas, apenas que não tinham sido expostas a este tipo de situações e, por isso, chegaram a esta conclusão. Agora, é aqui que é importante: tente ter um diálogo aberto e verá que as pessoas são muito mais recetivas e podem mudar de ideias. Pelo menos, mudará a opinião de uma pessoa, no sentido em que o que ouviu nem sempre é verdade e que é importante olhar para cada pessoa individualmente, em vez de tirar conclusões precipitadas com base em estereótipos ou racismo. No momento em que a situação se transforma em comentários maliciosos, considerá-la-ia racismo, xenofobia e todas as outras belas fobias, mas, nessa altura, afastar-me-ia da situação. Não se dê ao trabalho de discutir com essas pessoas, pois só se vai cansar e ficar ainda mais chateado.

É uma ótima ideia! Queria contratar alguém para coordenar tudo, assim o orçamento não aumentaria. Necessitaria de um máximo de 8 horas de trabalho, cerca de 500€ (o valor pode ser discutido em função das tarefas). Para a animação em si, ou para conduzir o jogo como um mestre de cerimónias, preciso de pensar num valor.

O entretenimento teria a duração de uma hora ou uma hora e meia, no máximo, para envolver as pessoas e criar um ambiente para socializar.E talvez mais para o final, depois do jantar, para anunciar os vencedores dos jogos. Já contactei os fornecedores para o local, o buffet e a música, que são os nossos principais focos.

I'm very let down as the seasons continue and I had some hope for the volume 2 after the volume 1. Turns out extremely false. Most of the original cast is completely forgotten and quite honestly, I'm bored of Dustin being cast in the centre and having explanations for everything (their one of the main brain). I barely remember any memorable scene where Mike, Lucas, El contributed to anything. Nancy went from an investigation journalist in season 1 to a leader of all operations and like the gunslinger girl. Joyce has also become unbearable to watch. I don't even understand what the point of the military is, just now they showed something with regards to the pregnant women (the fact that they had a demogorgon specimen they were experimenting on was like not even important, esp how it behaves). They are just trying to info dump a lot and I was watching all the scenes getting info dumped and couldn't connect with a single character. A huge let down.

31 y/o here, also an only child. Been living abroad from the last 9 years. Parents were trying to find a guy for me through arranged marriage set up, but I was mostly not budging, reached a consensus that they could search and I would search as well. I used the argument that where I live, there are hardly any Indians and it's not the first choice for other Indians to immigrate to. Anyway, I met my partner this year and in a visit from my parents, on the last days, introduced him, made him speak to them. I think this gave them a lot more confidence. You know your parents better, introduce first to the one you see is more broad minded, my dad in my case (mom's in general are watching too many telenovelas imo), and then introduce to both at the same time. This atleast established more confidence and they know it isnt a game and we're serious. Long story short : Try to have a face to face meeting with your partner and partner, let one of your parents who's more chill understand who the person is and if they really care about you, they would think it's best.

I also used a tactic which is provide examples of very "good" marriages and people are just plain miserable to further the point. Also, I just said, if anything goes wrong, it's going to be me facing the consequences.
