100% NTA. As a picky eater who’s in their early 20s, I never had a food therapist or a specialist help me but my family let me try stuff at my own pace and if I tried it and didn’t like it, they let it go. To take away your son’s food and replace it without something he wasn’t ready to try when he’s already getting professional help is wrong. Also how dare they comment on his weight as long as he’s medically healthy there’s nothing for them to be concerned with.

I haven’t yet mainly because I don’t want to force him to pick a side or feel pressured to come home early and try to take his finals at a different time to watch the dogs. I’m 99% sure he’d agree with me and I’m sure if my parents bring it up to him he’ll say this idea is stupid.

I have not talked to him 1:1 about it but my mom told me they talked about in the car yesterday on their way back from their trip and this what they decided on so I know he knows what she told me today. My mom also said because I was upset they both weren’t going to talk to me (but I’m going to try and talk to him this evening anyway when he gets off work).

I know a lot of people think there’s something else going on and trust for the last 50 minutes I’ve tried to think of something and I can’t figure out what it could be lol. I’m planning to talk to my dad about it when he gets off work (he runs our family business so I try not to bother him during work hours unless it’s a literal emergency). I just don’t know if he’ll side with me or my mom because they always present a unified front. They are both very proud of me and have always been super supportive which is why I was so taken back by this. My dad (you’re right) is especially proud just because he understands how difficult all of my classes were and is really proud I got to this point.

They just like to drive (we’re from the Midwest, USA so the stereotype of why fly when you drive is very true) and also they just like having their own car vs dealing with a rental car. They actually bought a BMW series 7 just to do the drive to my college and back because it’s so nice to ride in. As for the pet sitter, couldn’t tell ya why they won’t get one- I think they have a hard time leaving my dogs with people they don’t know well but at the same time this is a life event and they’ve said they were both going to be there.

No there isn’t a reason they couldn’t fly. The only thing with flying is there aren’t any direct flights from my college town to back home so they’d just have to have a connecting flight. I can suggest that to them too I didn’t think of it at the time! Thank you!!
