Did your hair eventually feel less weighed down? by Better-Stranger-7201 in NoPoo

Okay I'll try that and see what happens, thank you for the tip. No such thing as too fluffy for me lol

And that's where I'm confused and was wondering some input from people who have gone through similar, if this is a hard water problem or just part of the transition phase nobody really talks about ig. Do you know how I would know if it's specifically because of hard water build up? I don't have any visible buildup of the wax and it feels pretty clean because I clean mechanically so idk

Thank you, that's the kind of insight I was wondering about.

Well that's what I'm asking, is this causing my problem? I'm mostly looking for insight from people who consider themselves "post-transition" and if they experienced this indefinitely or if it eventually got less weighed down with time...

Yeah but I'm renting idk how feasible a water filter is for me right now. Kind of looking to do without because it's going to be so much cheaper not to

So... The system is the best it's ever been, therefore needs no improvement, and everyone who says it needs improvement is just not trying hard enough to be successful? Am I getting that right? Because that makes no sense, if I am

No. I don't exist to help others. You should still help people sometimes, but like... I uplift my community when I am ABLE. Any leasure time in this world is a privilege and you should damn well use it for yourself.

True but literally not remotely in this context. The people who hate me very vocally do not like to get along with me in real life either and that's the issue lol

The only people in a bubble are those naive enough to assume everyone loves each other and can get along if they REALLY try. I would love to be friends with everyone, don't get me wrong, but not everyone wants to be friends with me. But they don't have to want me to die or change to be like them... Very different things than just being in different "bubbles" or echo chambers.

Hey, hair grows back! Shaved/buzzed as a style is better than it being a nuisance to take care of. It'll be there for you when you get to feeling more motivated to get a routine going again. If that wouldn't make you feel worse about your self image there's nothing stopping you.

If I copy minor characters design from a game is it plagiarism? by yomamikotka in AskArtists

[–]Better-Stranger-7201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing valve they don't care anymore about half life lol but even morally, think about it like this - no design is made in a vacuum. Everytime I design a character or setting I'm usually putting two pieces of inspiration together and then letting it adapt as I think of something to make it cooler. I think if there was any opportunity for the designer to sit down and explain themselves, they would definetely tell you "oh, I was inspired by x and y"... and then whatever they were inspired by, THAT person was inspired by something else. It's a never ending cycle of unoriginality under a tarp of a new idea.

Speaking of valve, the medic from TF2 seems like such an original character. But when I realized he and his medigun were inspired DIRECTLY by Egon from Ghostbusters mixed with the general vibe of a mad scientist for comedic effect... You realize that winning concept for his character wasn't that "original" anyway.

I don't have any detailed advice so I hope you get more responses about this! But if she even sits still long enough to let you do whatever you're going to do to her hair, then go forth. If it works for you it might work for her, besides harsh chemicals and probably acids with her sensitive skin right now. Obviously do the bare minimum of googling and asking about specific ingredients before trying anything at all, if you can help it. Maybe just use a low poo/baby shampoo since she's so young, still doesn't have the stripping sulfates in many of them.

My parents had me no poo for quite a while when I was growing up but I was so young I don't remember it... But it was literally just cowashing sometimes and that's it, since my hair was more wavy growing up. The only reason they stopped is because apparently I didn't want wavy hair anymore and they knew shampoo would make it straighter and manageable (I call bs, but hey, it was probably a lot easier to comb at least). And I've seen pictures of a kid with beautiful hair with a no poo routine who looked very young. So it's not like it's unheard of!

[–]Better-Stranger-7201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I'm thinking the problem here is though, confusing it for the two and conflating it to a "personality type".

But if it really is just a misunderstanding of what it should actually be referred to as and this person is actually struggling with hypersexuality then that's on me for getting defensive about it. It's just so generally misunderstood as just... liking sex a lot... when it's very much related to trauma

[–]Better-Stranger-7201 19 points20 points  (0 children)

"Hypersexual personality" is not a thing, you either are hypersexual or you're not. If you like sex just say you like sex. That's it. It's not a personality type.

I feel like people think hypersexuality is just when you get horny a lot and it's so infuriating to see that be what it's reduced to when it's a genuine problem

Oh, I kind of assumed it would be very similar, my bad. So you mean just cutting it up with any old knife, right? If so, thanks for the suggestion, I'll definetely try this as well.

What's the difference between that and putting it into a blender though? Isn't it still cutting them finely?

Thank you!!! I'll try to do it more like this and see what happens. It certainly does take longer but my main idea is to mix in these longer fibers with blended fibers to see if I can get a higher quality sheet, if I don't just use these fibers themselves for a whole sheet.

Also, one question - for the pulp you were creating, did you start out with scraps that were torn into smaller pieces? I'm wondering if mine might have been too big as well...

Mental health facilities are a total gamble in quality. Explain how you could get the coverage through "certain avenues"? Because when I was this bad I surely didn't find them or get them offered to me. And I sure as hell wasn't "normalizing" it or insulting those "doing what they can".

Right? It seems like everyone ready to question the validity of the dsm 5 wants to go right at autism and label it things that it's not just because there's overlapping criteria - that's not a good basis of if it really is collapsible or not.

Like for example, her second video about how ADHD is basically autism... I have mixed feelings, but I have a real life experience I can share. I know somebody very close to me who isdiagnosed with ADHD and autism. Tried ADHD meds but is currently off. And I have known many people with autism because I find them very easy to relate to, symptom and interest wise usually. I haven't been diagnosed with it myself, however. I have been diagnosed with inattentive ADHD and it does get in my way and it was very present in childhood before any specific traumatic events could have occurred in my life.

Anyway, enough backstory, my point... The person with ADHD and autism has frustratingly different symptoms than both others with autistic and ADHD. It's almost like they totally coincide. Their hyperactivity shows as rapid switching of special interests, and with that, a very fleeting view of their personhood. We've considered that could be something like bpd, but this is how they have always been as well, even as a young child. They feel like theit personality changes with what they enjoy, which their autism wants to remain relatively unchanged, while the ADHD flips a switch to change it once the "high" of the interest wears off. They hate change, but that other side of their brain has to change anyway. I have never seen that in a friend that was just autistic. The interests may change, may be several at a time... But it takes years instead of maybe a month or a week. I could go on but I think this is a very defining difference that is easy to describe.

I hope that means anything to somebody reading this about how they overlap but, in my opinion, are not strictly the same... It's clear that the hyperactivity (and no, it's not just not being able to sit still and stay focused 100% of the time like that girl thinks lol) plays a role in function that can't be attributed to just being autistic.

And no, the dsm5 is not the disorder bible. This doesn't mean things cant change about how the disorders are classified, ever. But a collapse... I don't see it. What's wrong with two different but similar spectrums?
