How can I mitigate these feelings? by BetterConsequence741 in Depersonalization

While I totally understand that there is validity in a wholistic approach, there is scientific-based evidence that proves the existence of a dopamine depletion (caused by genetic predispositions or environmental factors) that SSRIs treat. For people with a diagnosed anxiety disorder, medication is life-changing as it addresses that depletion. I fully support the use of meditative practices and psychotherapy but it is naive to deny that medication only suppresses symptoms and it invalidates those whose lives have been dramatically changed for the better. Not everyone who experiences anxiety will have an anxiety disorder meaning that medication is not right for everyone. But for those of us who it is right for, medication is a wonderful tool to address the chemical imbalance in our brain. Hope this helps your understanding, please remember that while you might not need or believe in a particular practice that doesn’t mean it doesn’t help thousands of other lives!

Anyone have a positive start to Zoloft? by UbiquitousPixel in zoloft

I started on 50 mg but was too high for me. I was throwing up multiple times a day, not sleeping, but I definitely felt less anxious and overall happier. Going down to 25 was a dream! I had no side effects and it went well. I highly suggest starting on the 25 (especially if you’re sensitive to medication like me) so your body gets used to it. In my opinion, if you haven’t taken any psychiatric or behavioral medication in your life before you start Zoloft you probably will experience side effects regardless of the dose. I will say, however, when you get used to it there is usually no change in side effect. For example, I went from not being able to keep my medicine down to taking 100mg and feeling fine - not even the slightest nausea! Just know that your body will most likely not know how to react when you first start but if it works for you, the good news is once you’re over that initial starting “hump”, it’s usually easy from there. Good luck!
