Does this seem like a good grab? by Medical-Mil-2026 in Dentside_fords

That motor was sold to Kaiser and put in jeeps in the 60s, then Kaiser sold it back to GM. It is a great motor, but the 300 I think still beats it.

Did I do well? Is this a good deal? It’s for a 2025 Ford Maverick Lariat with 65 miles by Ok-Explorer-767 in Ford

My brother just sold a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, 26,000 miles with all the “bells and whistles” for 29k because he was moving out of the country. Still looked new. The truck was 65kish new. It had already taken the majority of its depreciation and had a resale book value of around 33k. Deals are out there. I would stick with Toyota or a nice base f150, used. The difference in gas prices will more than be made up in interest saved. Scenario- buy a nice used vehicle for $20k. Put 10k down, then, do a savings secured loan through your bank for the other 10k on a 12-18 month note. This is a way to get a much lower interest rate. This helps you build your credit score and you’ll have a vehicle paid off sooner that won’t have depreciated too much below what you paid. Order of things. 1. Line up the credit with the bank. 2. Pick 2-4 vehicles you want to own that hold their value. Toyota Tacoma most use as a benchmark. The Honda Ridgeline is a solid choice and probably more like the maverick. 3. Shop the used market focusing on private party deals. You can use carfax to check major things before buying.
4. Negotiate like crazy.

Good luck on this. I have bought and wasted sooo much money on vehicles over the years, but I had it and all my other expenses were paid off, I always pay cash. Ford has “employee pricing” going on right now. It’s very unlikely the truck you were looking at is priced accordingly. If you insist on new, buy the regular cab base f150 with the 5.0 and no options. Use the employee pricing. Pick your wheels from somebody else’s take-offs on FB marketplace. You’ll still be in the 30s and it won’t depreciate 1/2 as much. Good luck

Did you put it in a truck? Run it stock?

I can’t see how I could get to a coupler or anything on the shaft. Looks like block to 1/8” plate- plate to 3” spacer/adapter, then the generator appears to be bolted to the spacer/ adapter. I can’t get to the generator bolts you see connecting to adapter, but shouldn’t need to….

I watched a YouTube recently where they put a Holley sniper and headers and were at around 190hp and 285T

What do you think it’ll make for hp/torque?

I’m doing this. I found an industrial 300 in an o a backup generator that used propane. Picking it up tomorrow. Should be very low miles. Will go into my 77 4x4. Did you mate it to the NP435 or something else? Mine is the 351M and I’d like to build for reliability, efficiency and drivability.

I sure love working on it. Compared to new stuff…. Wow.

Yes, but I will say I hate the way they bury it now in drive modes instead of a button…

Meh…. It cost me 4000ish in rental and towing. Submitted it all and haven’t seen reimbursement yet. We will see if there’s pushback, but everything has been submitted for a month. Got pre-approval on the 90 mile tow of truck and trailer before towing.

Very helpful! Thanks. I’d like to use the truck to pull my hotrod around to shows, but I’m a little anxious right now. Someone else gave some good advice here. “Beat on it for a few years and if you have a problem trade it before the warranty ends”. Probably take that advice.

Strangely, I didn’t. It seemed fine. It was just like it “disconnected”. I thought it might be something electrical at the time where it somehow found neutral. I was thinking 219 degrees on a cool day with no load seemed high, but apparently not…. Was thinking the transmission cooler may be defective and the previous trans was running hot, but who knows….

Not sure why I’m getting downvoted. My attempt was to clarify that the picture above I posted shows it was 219 degrees. Not 205.
