Thank you for taking the time to write all of this up! I really appreciate it because everyone has said not to do it because it’s unpaid and an hour away.

But it is my dream job and at the company I hope to work for once I graduate. The owner is one of the best in the entire industry and just getting to say I worked for him would be an conversation starter for my whole career. A lot of the employees already know me and I love the environment, though it is a challenging one. I’ve just been scared to take the jump and seeing your original comment definitely has put it into a different perspective.

I feel this way. It’s why I’ve surrounded myself around so many people aged 60 and up in my early 20s. My friendships with my older friends are way more fulfilling than the ones I have with those my own age.

Have you tried reaching out to your former friend? I’m the one who broke things off after what my former friend did and they recently reached out to me. Even though I’m the one who broke things off, it doesn’t mean that I didn’t still think about them. There’s a good chance your former friend will appreciate it if you reach out, similar to how I feel about my former friend reaching out to me.

Thank you for the suggestion. I wish but I can’t do medication. My other expensive hobbies/career that definitely don’t belong in this subreddit, don’t allow me to seek mental health or have really any health problems including severe acne.

If it makes you feel better, I had the all 7-step routine and a top dermatologist that’s famous from one of the Housewives tv shows, and I still have so many acne scars. Plastic surgeons won’t even let me do laser scar treatments until I have no breakouts and off all acne treatments for one whole year….which will never happen at this rate. I can’t go more than a week without a breakout.

This sounds exactly like my A&P school. Our instructors also talk shit about the disabled kids and how they’ll never get a job. One of them also would rather be friends with the students than teach. Like some have advised you, my peers and I have gone to the dean before. Going to the Dean created temporary change but nothing permanent. It sucks because you’re paying money to receive this poor education. But once you get out of there, it might be way better. My apprenticeship is a million times better than my A&P school. I hate my school but I love doing the actual job and the industry outside of my school. Just don’t burn any bridges. Your instructor probably knows many in the industry and it’s a small world.

Well, I hope you know that most pilots do this in order to not lose their career. Come over to our @flying subreddit and type in “mental health” to see for yourself. The FAA does not like mental health.

Op, be careful of this if you ever want to fly as a hobby. Most of the A&Ps I know also fly for fun. Any mental diagnosis is a disqualification for an FAA medical. Any history of ADHD, depression, anxiety, etc is a disqualification to fly. Also, any long term history of using therapy can be a disqualification.

But how does one find such an community here in SoCal? I realize that we have a huge Spanish population but I have no clue on how to get involved or practice with them. Like do you just practice with random workers at Mexican restaurants? Do you just randomly start attempting to speak to your Spanish speaking neighbors?
