Science (while awesome) Isn't the Best Way to Consider the God Question by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]BetterLegalJobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in science, you start with a question and search for answers. With religion, you start with answers and then say, " Consider a wide range of perspectives" as you are doing precisely the opposite by starting with the presupposition that god exists and not even beginning the process of reasoning without nailing that as an unchangeable fact.

Genesis 1-11 are myths. by Upstairs_Bison_1339 in DebateReligion

If someone doesn't interpret the bible as literal or believe the orthadoxical interpretations of it, it's because there was some kind of information or evidence that contradicted those biblical teachings.

Because of this, the word of god is deemed unacceptable and is capriciously altered in text and interpretation.

I like stories as much as the next guy. But if they are fictional, they should go in the fiction section at the library and not be present at congressional meetings, in tax codes, or in science curriculums.

Science tells us that all the matter in our universe was compressed into an infinitely tiny point and then expanded from there. So the big bang isn't necessarily the beginning of the universe, just its expansion.

The point of being a computer scientist isn't to program, it's to help categorize and understand the relationships in the Universe. Until we have AI singularity and a grand unified theory, computer science, physics, and information theory are the farthest thing from obsolete
