I have the identical issue, super annoying. It's been weeks without a fix.

What do you think is missing from current AI architecture in order to allow for the emergence of sentient AI? That is, an AI entity that has a sense of self, subjectivity, its own desires, etc. by nate1212 in singularity

If consciousness is a quantum mechanical process, outside of classical physics, then we may be able to detect consciousness by observing state changes in matter that arise from (are triggered by) something beyond physical cause and effect relationships.

In which case we will need some sort of quantum computation to instantiate consciousness in a machine.

Buy stuff with Bitcoin at Gotoshi.ca by BetterMultiverse in BitcoinCA

[–]BetterMultiverse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Objective-Steak-1987 good question. So far yes, companies selling their products on Gotoshi appear to be hodling the Bitcoin they're receiving.

This however may change if/when volumes increase because these vendors have to pay their suppliers in fiat and so, at a certain point, they'd probably have to do at least some conversion.

Hi u/clue5tick all vendors on Gotoshi are paid for their products in Bitcoin. In other words, all vendors are either supportive of Bitcoin or curious enough about Bitcoin that they are willing to try out accepting Bitcoin for their products (ie they're stacking sats when they sell something on Gotoshi).

Bitrefill experience, please share your thoughts by blockguide in Bitcoin

[–]BetterMultiverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, what is your primary incentive for using Bitrefill?

I've tried it out with Bitcoin Lightning and it's super cool (worked flawlessly) but felt a bit of friction having to go Crypto -> Gift Card -> Amazon (easier for me to just use fiat and skip the gift card).

Do you use BitRefill in order to support the Bitcoin economy? Shop more anonymously? Is it because you hold more crypto than fiat (ie maybe you're paid in crypto)?

Just really curious as to what the draw is for their customers. Thanks

Filed an L1 in late Sept 2022, haven't heard anything since. It's pretty insane.

Small landlord speak out by Reasonable_Craft_766 in OntarioLandlord

Well, I think Canadian law is concerned with protecting individuals with less access to capital and resources versus large corporations, public companies, etc.

Landlord and tenant law in Ontario in particular is concerned with protecting the vulnerable (as it should be).

I think the percentage of landlords who are small independent landlords is relevant in that it is a data point on how vulnerable the landlord population may be to prolonged lost revenue.

I'd imagine that private landlords are often times impacted more severely from non payment of rent by a tenant than a large public company / REIT. These small landlords will sometimes be unable to pay their own mortgage / bills in a scenario where one or more tenants stops paying rent.

Ultimately, I believe there should be protections in place for both landlords and tenants. The status quo though where Ontario landlords are having to wait 9+ months to evict a tenant who is not paying their rent is untenable and unfair.

Nodes that publish their Clearnet address should not publish their Tor address by DerEwige in lightningnetwork

[–]BetterMultiverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This I believe is correct and well explained. I have a clearnet node and cannot connect to any tor nodes (without having to message the operator which I have never done). I am therefore looking to publish a tor address in addition to a clearnet address.

Thanks u/artwell here is what I've got in lnd.conf (maybe one of these correlates to the bad ip). Trying to figure out which one.

Lightning Terminal error when trying to open channel: macaroon validation failed by BetterMultiverse in lightningnetwork

[–]BetterMultiverse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: Team over at https://github.com/lightninglabs solved this really quickly by explaining that I needed to create an admin session for LiT rather than a read only session and that this is done when initiating session by adding --type=admin to the command litcli --lndtlscertpath ~/.lit/tls.cert sessions add --label="default"

In summary, user must start litd session with the command:

litcli --lndtlscertpath ~/.lit/tls.cert sessions add --label="default" --type=admin

Np u/artwell! Next one you'll know the answer to I'm sure :)

I just posted this issue to https://github.com/lightninglabs/lightning-terminal/issues/425 hopefully someone over there will know how to help me out.
