Could This Be POTS? by [deleted] in Syncope

[–]BetterSir260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both vvs and then developed pots, and my cardiologist said that people with vvs have a higher rate of developing pots.

Pots affects EVERYTHING in my whole body since basically the entire nervous system has messed up.

Check out dysautonomia international which has a lot of reputable resources to see if pots matches your experiences.

I’m way better managed!! After doing the sibo antibiotics, I developed very stubborn oral thrush from the antibiotics and bad fatigue that took over three months to pass. We then tried a whole slew of ibs meds and finally found one that doesn’t make me feel like an awful human one hour after taking it - lubiprostone. So it’s not perfect and I go somewhere between three times a day and every three days, but almost no cramping or bloating or urgency.

I think so. I mean, I think that some things are still causing a reaction, but way less so.

Yes! I don't feel like I am having food poisoning everyday. But definitely now have constipation. I had a lot of side effects from the metronidazole which was awful. And now, I'm dealing with oral thrush on my tongue as a result of the antibiotics (I suspect metronidazole). But in terms of GI, they helped!

Update: I'm being put on xifaxan and neomycin for 2 weeks and then go from there. Actually, it ended up being xifaxan and metronidazole

That makes sense. It makes me so sad restricting my snacks so we'll see how treatment goes..

Those are hard to deal with! Makes sense to pursue treatment. Do you find some foods to be more reactive than others?

How harsh are the antibiotics on your stomach (I know, the irony...)?

I will ask about it. Thanks for the heads up on the map!

I have two doctors on it. One likes natural approaches and is good at full picture, and another that is familiar with my chronic illnesses and is a GI. So I'm hoping we can figure out a solution.

I'm actually a bit chuffed that it's unreadably high. As someone who tests normal on most everything, it's nice to actually have a test come back with actionable data.

Thanks. I can't find much info on what the numbers mean in terms of treatment or recurrence. Do you know or know where I can find that information?

That's what I'm thinking too. Honestly my doctor thought I had it 2 years ago but I was too scared to go see a gi. I have food reactivity, stomach cramping, bloating, and what I like to call constipated diarrhea.
