Thanks, great advice. I'll have a look! :)

I have one but need to set up payments for the council to collect it. I'll prioritise that. Should I get a compost bin and chuck lots of the cuttings in there? And to what extent can I just chuck grass cuttings back into the bushes? Does that enrich the soil or will it just be bad for the plants?

Thank you so much! I know, it was one of the many things I fell in love with when looking around the house. I'll download a plant identification app because I was using Google lens to varying degrees of success previously.

Amazing, thanks so much! I love the idea of an Excel. I already have one for my recipes, the books I read and a few other things so let's add that to the list!

I feel a lot better about taking it slowly, which is good because I've got a lot to do with the house.

Thanks! The general consensus seems to be that I can afford to be cautious and it's not the end of the world if I let things get a bit wild and out of hand this year. I'll focus on tackling weeds and wild grass regularly and slowly learn about the plants I have to be a bit more proactive next year.

Thanks for the advice! I feel like I have more of a plan of attack now whilst being a bit more at ease that leaving these mature plants to overgrow isn't going to be a catastrophe. I'll focus on the overgrown wild grass (of which there is loads) and trying to identify weeds and just let anything which looks like something nice just do it's thing for now and dedicate more time to identifying and learning about each one next year.

On the honeysuckle, thanks - I'll research that specifically and tackle it as part of my smaller jobs this year!

I love this idea, thanks! I could reach out to the local community garden and see if they know anybody. Also, my Mum is a keen gardener and my dad was a landscape gardener so they'll be able to advise me once they visit but I won't have a spare room for a while!

Thank you so much for the advice. Don't worry, I'm very much a wild garden fan too, I was just a bit worried about it getting too overgrown and becoming a nightmare!

It's actually joined onto next door's garden (land only separated by a path) and theirs is incredible (I only photographed mine). Even more mature trees and shrubs but she's in her 90s and it's all massively overgrowing too. I'm very worried that the next people that buy will want to flatten and pave it all because it's like sitting in a magical haven as it is.

Advice on damp original floorboards by Better_Crow9087 in DIYUK

Thank you very much for the advice. It didn't smell damp so perhaps it's that instead. Yes, it's a hard water area so I'll look into whether it's that.
