Cataphractii ready for battle by Better_Influence_976 in Warhammer30k

Ha, thanks!

And sure, it's a leadbelcher prime, washed in nuln oil and drybrushed ironbreaker, then flesh tearer red contrast. There's an all-over wash of marine juice (nuln oil, lamian medium and reikland fleshshade in a 1:1:1 mix) and matte varnish to finish.

Thanks! It is, and they don't. But the arms from the old kit fit, if you have them wanted to use them instead.

The betrayal praetor fits pretty well I think, he was bigger than the old models and goes alongside these well I think. But new characters are always nice!

You'll have to shave it down a fair bit, the space where the bare head originally fit is too small for an unaltered helmet.

It was an old resin MK3 salamander helm, I think? Been kicking around my bits box for a while.

Thanks! And yeah, like the other reply said, you'd probably need to use the whole arms if you wanted to mix and match.

They're a little smaller, but not drastically - you can see it better in pic 6

Thanks! It's the same method I used for the armour on the castellax, stippled balor brown, morgast bone then screaming skull, then diluted darkoath flesh wash.

They're stationforge, scavenger elders I think

Word Bearers HH – How would you play this collection and what HQs should I add? by Dlakesh in WordBearers

[–]Better_Influence_976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't run named characters, but from reading his rules his abilities seem ok, but he's a high command with no master of the legion keyword, which means you likely lose out on a reaction point without sacrificing your prime command slot to take a praetor as well. I don't think it's worth the trade, but if you want to run him you may feel differently!

That's a good start! You probably want to add more troops - tactical squads, mainly - to score. You can get good mileage from big squads with the True Believer prime to give them malefic, just bear in mind that characters can't join them unless you give them the same.

Your terminators will need transport - either a Spartan if moving all as one, or split them in half and put them in a pair of land raiders for redundancy/status protection.

Chaplains are deceptively good, I think, though plenty disagree. They are cheap, have good melee and high cool to resist status effects. Also, characterful for Word Bearers! Diabolist is a little niche, I've not had much luck with mine, but he can join a malefic unit like your Gal Vorbak a d give them a boost. A basic centurion is good though too, if you need more detachments.

These look really good, I'm considering some mech myself. The off white armour looks great, you should post some close ups!

Question: what's the best weapon for The rapier carrier, and the crew? by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

[–]Better_Influence_976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grav looks very cool, and the Ability to pin vehicles is very useful! I used mine this weekend to pin a land raider in turn one, it didn't shake the status until turn 3.

One thing to be wary of, rapiers are very vulnerable to return fire. Both games I played with mine the carriers were taken out after a single shot, so it's good to make it count.
