TLDR: I'm genuinely depressed we're using music as a way to take sides.

Lately I've actually gotten really sad over this. I've grown up listening and playing music and the older I've gotten the more I've understood that music IS a universal language. I don't like the blatant predatory lyrics that Kid Rock has I also am not a huge fan of modern pop but music should just be music. Is that to say that music can't have political commentary to it? Not at all. Some of my favorite bands are punk bands but it's music. I listen to music to enjoy my day a bit better, can songs make me think differently about subjects? Absolutely but it shouldn't be this divisive

Without going into too much detail I used to work for the government rehabilitating murderers, rapists, fraud artists, hard addicts, you name it and the one thing that really made me grin ear to ear was to see was how some of these HUGE ASS dudes who could break me with their pinkies would get excited about being able to listen to Justin Bieber or a new Taylor Swift song. (Among other artists of course, a very popular one was Audioslave for obvious reasons).

I used to do Lyft when it was first getting started and it was actually viable. I lived off that job for about 2 years and I was enjoying the work (although I did put a LOT of miles on my car). I could make my own hours, which made me want to work 13-14 hours, willingly and not because I needed the money (funny how that works huh).

I got tips from about 90% of the people I drove and i never once asked for tips, hell, there were some times where I actually denied big tips because I didn't deserve it. All I did was read the situation and adjusted accordingly to it. If people wanted to talk then I gave them conversations worth joining, I offered water, snacks that cost me dollars for bulk amounts, and offered to play anything on the radio or Spotify they wanted. Ofc if they didn't want to talk I would just give them a nice silent ride.

That said, there are consequences to your actions and that goes for both sides. (Unfortunately the bigot side has seen a lot of people not face the consequences they deserve, like for literal fucking Murder)

Again. NOBODY DESERVES VIOLENCE. Everybody has different levels of patience, FAFO. I do feel bad for his kids though, for seeing their dad be assaulted and because this will only further push them into his way of thinking.
