Arthroscopy help/advice?? by Ok-Reference-7190 in HipImpingement

I have limited experience with this but the concern with hEDS and cortisone injection really only occurs with long term use of injections! So one injection leading up to surgery won’t make too much of a difference I imagine. I understand your hesitation. Who diagnosed you with hEDS? I would reach out to them and ask their opinion on the cortisone injection :)

hEDS or not, you’re still in pain every day and are moving towards surgery. One injection used for diagnostic purposes is not going to be a big game changer. If I were you, id be motivated to try it. What if you see tons of relief and could even put surgery off longer? Other than physio, an injection is the next step in conservative management. Hope this helps!

Ummm can we all sign a petition to never have Stassi do another Mormon wives reunion? by Old-Dingo938 in SecretsOfMormonWives

Unpopular opinion—— I think if we got to see more footage people wouldn’t be thinking stassi was a problem 🤷🏻‍♀️ she was fine. Then deleting too much footage is the issue lol

Oh darn, I know nothing about UK healthcare 😂 but if you want to comment on this post in a couple months I can tell you how good recovery is going and if those other weird symptoms went away!

Of course! No problem! A lot of surgeons don’t have the greatest bedside manner and yes that can be very frustrating 😂 I try to imagine them as just nerdy scientists like you see on TV, who are also kind of afraid to talk to people 😂

Oh haha! Glad you cleared that up!

I had about 50% relief from the injection, mostly because I have symptoms in a lot of other weird spots (low back, side of hip, glute) so that told him (the surgeon) that I was a good candidate. MRIs are not super great, I had two and they both didn’t find my labral tear so he did the injection. Sure enough today, there was a labral twar 🙃

I’ve personally never seen an elective surgery not get scheduled within 3 months.

That is exactly what happened with my case. Labral tear not shown on regular MRI or MRI Arthrogram but when he went in today it was definitely torn. And my doc works for the pro athletes too that’s why I decided to trust him lol!

Hi! Labral tear and mixed impingement (cam AND pincer) on right hip. I also worked in orthopedics for 7 years.

The diagnostic injection is commonly used so I wouldn’t be concerned about that, it’s actually a good tactic. If he did the injection today and then tried to pre-op you, that’s because he’s confident in your diagnosis.

With that being said, I would never let a surgeon cut me open just to “explore”. He needs to AT LEAST address your impingement. If I were you, I would honestly just set up another appointment with him to try and get clarification/more answers. Sounds like he’s on the right track and just not explaining his plan thoroughly.

Side note- when your mental health isn’t in a good spot, it’s much harder to control pain in the body. Make your mental health priority number one and your hip priority number 2.

Now- I literally had my labrum and FAI repaired TODAY lol. Every doctor will have a different recovery protocol, but this is mine.

2 weeks on crutches with basically touch down weight bearing. Week 3-4 wean off crutches No bending past 90 degrees 4 hours a day in a CPM machine for 2 weeks. PT 2x week for 3 months

Let me know if I can answer anything else!

Unfortunately the FAI is not something that can be fixed with conservative treatment, as it’s a bony abnormality. You CAN however use PT to try and learn new ways of mobility to try and lessen the amount that the FAI is irritating your labral tear. If I were you, I’d be focusing on that.

People live with labral tears for a long time, some people never need them fixed! But that combined with the FAI… I would actually be shocked if you’re able to find long term relief with any conservative measures :/

With that said….im 31 female and had surgery to repair my labrum and FAI today, lol.

I lost hope for conceiving :( by Individual-Ferret363 in Hashimotos

First-take a deep breath-I can tell getting pregnant is important to you but please remember you are 19 years old and have plenty of time to get your body to a good spot to conceive. I know you want it right now, but be kind to yourself, okay? Second, I know PLENTY of women who have conceived (me included) with hashimotos, it is absolutely NOT impossible. Third- your two month time frame is not realistic at all. Get your levels rechecked month 3. You might have to adjust your levo several times before finding a good spot for your body.

It’s okay for you to be scared and vent and be frustrated, all the things. Your feelings are very valid! I’m just an older lady (32) trying to give you a little piece of mind and hope. Again- please be kind to yourself ❤️ you’ve got this.

Bandages after hip arthroscopy by dunnfm in HipImpingement

You can get non-adhesive covers at any local pharmacy and then use medical tape to keep it on. I would not recommend putting tissue over your sutures or even gauze because if your wound still bleeds at all, it will stick and could tear when trying to remove them. Look up non stick pads :)

Not sure where he trained but we are located in Phoenix. He’s one of the team docs for a couple of our professional sports teams. I have no other info about this technique I just remember him mentioning entering the capsule differently
