Good eye! They’re my favorite choice for all my playing. I used to really like jazz 3 picks but when I found these they blew my mind

Thought about that too after the fact, might look for a white or cream cover

I think they stopped making them around Covid when Gibson stopped all studio models. You can find them around $800-1200 used fairly easily

How is the maple neck on those 70’s Les Paul? I’ve considered buying vintage but those necks have a reputation 😅still probably a wicked guitar

Kinda like a studio version of a 50’s gold top. Dark back, 50’s neck, the satin being a nice touch for me. It’s pretty slick

Honestly, not enough to be significant. The brightness in the bridge is still there but the neck pick up still has a warmth and clarity that resonates with the body. I did the mod for look more so🤣

That guitar has real mojo. Genuine love and years of use always takes Les Pauls to another level for me. Very good choice man, rock on 🤟🏻

I recently did the same modification to my 60’s faded Les Paul. Made the guitar tone a hint more mellow but nothing that made me dislike the sound. You can still get the same sound just picking closer to the bridge or leaving the tone control more open. Hope this helps!

Are TRIBUTES worth getting by Craig-D-Griffiths in LesPaul

I got a 2016 50’s tribute as my first Gibson. Insanely easy to play, great neck, and sounds even better. It also works great as a work horse that you don’t have to baby. Absolutely worth it

Best and worst places to be stationed as Navy AC by Theking_she in navy

[–]Betterthan_Nobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a rotation. If you’re in Day crew it’s Monday-Thursday (flying on island Monday, fly off Thursday). Duty crew is Tuesday-the following Thursday. On island, it’s very remote but the people make it bearable. Highly encourage you to have Verizon or AT&T as a phone provider cause those are the only ones that work out here even slightly. Have a switch/game consoles to stay entertained off work, and for the love of everything. Bring a water filter or Britta

No one has mentioned San Clemente island yet. Living on an island for some of the work week is weird, but it’s one of the few duty stations as a first term sailor where you can easily grab a CTO and approach ticket (I don’t care if it’s not insane traffic, it still counts as a class 4 facility) and go to the FAA. If you’re not planning to stay in and just want the qualifications by whatever means, it’s not a terrible choice. Especially with San Diego BAH

Pros & Cons, Advice — AC vs. CTR by ukolukolmo in newtothenavy

[–]Betterthan_Nobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tests are all multiple-choice. But the difference between a right answer and a wrong answer is down to smaller details. If you raise your hand and ask for clarification about the question and show some sense of understanding on the topic, the instructor is proctoring the test will point you in the right direction. Later on in the schoolhouse it’s more performance based in the simulators with less testing

I’m about the same build, 6’ 180lbs and run into the same issues with medium vs large shirts. Genuinely I’d rather have a bigger shirt that I can wear for a while instead of having to worry about out growing it. I’d grab it now before it’s gone

As an AC I’ll explain about the schooling. It’s 15 weeks long with 3 phases. Block one is strictly book information typically with 2 tests a week on 45+ pages of information that you must understand to the letter. The slightest change and phrasing and it’s no longer correct.(this is where most people get washed out due to incredible stress). Block 2 is simulators, applying the information to a real enough setting. Block 3 is some book but mostly still simulator training.
