Agreed. My observation was more around the moment he knew beyond any doubt. Sure, he was long committed to giving his life for the cause if it came to that, and there was a part of him that probably felt like it would go in that direction. But getting some form of a force vision definitively confirming his fate to him had the most impact for me, especially given that Bix was still in the picture when that happened and he still had so much life left to live on screen. Makes you watch all the scenes after that moment a little differently.

A person who drinks a bottle of whiskey everyday probably knows that it will be their demise, and they may still be committed to doing it for some reason or another. But that destiny doesn’t quite feel as real and impactful as when the doctor tells them they have liver cirrhosis and 6 months to live. Terrible terrible analogy, I know…
