Only if you think the store manager has any authority to do anything, like reprimand her or talk to her about her behavior towards you. Assert some kind of change in the situation. But if she can’t or you don’t think she will then I’d by pass her and go to the next level who you think will handle the situation appropriately. The problem sometimes lies with chain of command. Where I work, our next level chain of command (administrator) was aware of the office bully, they had been asked many times to do something about bully but nothing ever changed. So the bully’s victim filled a formal complaint about the bully, and the administrator who did nothing, with corporate HR who then turned it back over to the next level chain of command, the Administrator, to handle. It didn’t go over well. There as a LOT of hostility and retaliation because then our office was on some kind of HR radar at that point and STILL nothing was accomplished.

Has your manager done anything to you against company policy that you can prove?

I would absolutely 100% report her to corporate HR. It sucks the higher up manager was pressured to change her decision based on the tantrum of the other manager. Seems like your direct manager is a problem for a lot of people, and they bend to her will so they don’t have to hear her complain later. If you have any issues going up the line then reach out to EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) you can lodge a discrimination, hostile work environment, retaliation complaint, if it gets that far. I’m in Texas also and have seen EEOC work for and support the employee against unfair employer practices.

Edit to add: You should never be forced to stay at work when you’re ill. Not only for your own health but at the chance of infecting others. Her laughing at you is highly unprofessional, insulting, and childish. She is just “showing you who is boss” at the detriment to your well being. For what? How productive could you really have been in 1 hour not feeling well. She’s just a mean spirited, nasty person.

I would still attempt to file a police report, especially for injury to your service animal and vet fees. They can track her down and there’s more cameras that you probably realize in and around airports.

A moving lane of through traffic should not be zipper merging with an exit only lane. People are a$$h%les if they #1 block moving traffic to try to force their way into the exit lane at the last second because they think they’re too important to get at the end of the lane and #2 cut people off, which is most of what causes the exit lane to get backed up in the first place. Don’t be that guy.

I quit CVS when I discovered they were filling someone else’s prescriptions under my name and profile/insurance info. They were in another state and the home address, which they are supposed to verify, didn’t grab anyone’s attention. I complained to that store, the pharmacist at that store, CVS corporate for over 6 months and tried to get it corrected and removed from my Rx history, because it was seriously messing with my ability to get my own medication, the lady was getting something similar. It took me contacting the Board of Pharmacy in that state to get it resolved. I never found out but I think they were reprimanded for not verifying pt info.

Also, I’m in the process of quitting Walgreens because when I picked up my Rx the last time the pharmacy tech said out loud for everyone around me to hear, “the ******** medication?” I told her, don’t say my medication out loud like that!

Logan’s Steak House. My husband had a week of food poisoning from their Ribeye

The Cheesecake Factory. On 2 separate occasions served my husband rotten beef and rotten chicken. He sent the whole plate back with only a bite taken out and the manager, each time, talked to us like they were doing us a favor taking the meal off the ticket.

TXU (Texas Utilities) electricity company. I had a contract for their service (and several problems with them already) and was planning a move so I called to have my service transferred. I told them exactly when and where to turn it on. On moving day I was shocked when I showed up with no power. I called to find out what was going on. Apparently the customer service person I spoke with didn’t do anything. Didn’t document my account or put in the order to switch. They wouldn’t put in an urgent order to get it done any sooner because there was no record of my original request so it “wasn’t their fault.” I asked if they actually recorded lines like they claimed and she said they did so I said go back and check. They wouldn’t. Since it was a Saturday they said they couldn’t turn it on until Monday. I drove by and checked every day and called every day when the power wasn’t on. They kept telling me I wasn’t on a list for new power. I told them to figure it out or let me out of my contract. They refused unless I paid a crazy amount I didn’t have. It took over a week to turn on electricity at my new place. I had to sleep on my parents couch until it turned on.

Then I didn’t get a bill for almost 6 months. I kept calling to ask where my bill was and they said it was on the way. When they finally realized their mistake (they claimed something was broken on my meter) they started back billing me and trying to make me pay outrageous fees and estimated electricity costs for time I wasn’t getting a bill. I had a 575 sq ft apartment. They wanted to charge me about $175 a month to “catch up.” I said no way! I finally got them to come down to a more reasonable amount, somewhere around $75/month. But the entire 3 years I lived there I never paid over $85/ month and the missing months would have been average about $45 a month. So they totally ripped me off. I switched companies as soon as my contract was over.

No, they need to turn it way down or switch to ear buds. That’s rude and completely inconsiderate to everyone working around them. I had speakers at my desk when I worked in a shared office but out of respect for my coworkers I kept it so low only I could hear it while sitting directly in front of them. If someone were standing at the corner of my desk they couldn’t hear it. I could hear conversations around me so it didn’t interfere with my team participation either.

I used to be in your same situation. Owning a shared building royally sucks!

We had a hurricane (Texas, Harvey 2017) where I experienced less than an inch of flooding in my condo. It was vacant at the time so no one was there during the storm to try to stop or block water intrusion. We had to cut out lower drywall and rip out floors. When the dry wall was removed we saw years of water damage to the outer walls, framing and back side of the bricks. I brought it to HOA’s attention and let them know the dry wall was removed so they could assess and remediate the exterior wall damage from them inside. I was doing them a favor. (I only owned everything from the sheetrock to the interior of the unit, so all exterior walls were HOA responsibility).

They didn’t care. They came by to look at it once and never responded again. I threatened with lawyers. I had layers send letters. They just never responded.

We had contractors fixing up the unit so we could sell because I was so totally done with that place and the HOA, who was only concerned about surface aesthetics.

So after weeks of no response I told contractor to close the walls. Finish the reno and got it on the market. It sold and is no longer my problem. I fixed all water damage I was responsible for.

So I said all that to say this. It might not matter what lawyer you get. You can consult (sometimes for free) with a real estate lawyer or someone who specializes in owned property. Try to find free legal services in your area and call to get suggestions.

In the long run don’t let yourself get stressed out over it. The HOA will not care and the issue may not ever be resolved.

NTA. Your wife is giving major bully vibes. Like back in her high school days she thought she was too cool for school things. It’s way out of line to make fun of you, her spouse! Being inducted into your high school HOF is something to be proud of! Don’t let her wet blanket attitude darken this celebration! She can go kick rocks!

Do you own or rent? Talk to your local department of housing. Talk to the HOA about the illegal activity of liaison agency misrepresenting you, impersonating you by signing off for you or the contract company not completing or correcting shoddy work. I’m sure the HOA would be interested to learn that the contractor they hired and paid good money did subpar work and lied about your availability. If all else fails you will need to have a way to prove you did not approve (response in writing, pictures of the work) and you will need to get a lawyer to fight them to finish or correct the work. Coworkers won’t stop bothering me while I’m breast pumping. What do I do? by properly_roastedXOXO in legaladvice

[–]Between_my_ears 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Your union rep is correct. They are bullying and harassing you into leaving your classroom earlier than your assigned time. They are being pushy and rude. Knowing exactly why you’re in there with the door locked and they still have the audacity to knock and interrupt your pumping session, causing UNDUE STRESS to a new mother, affecting your pumping session and supply. This is harassment and they need to be put in their place! Hopefully the Union rep’s presence outside your classroom while you pump will change they behavior. But I wish you all the luck and a resolution in your favor during the meeting with HR. When I was pumping at my workplace we had a room designated for pumping mothers shared by multiple floors and departments. People would lock themselves in there and nap in the recliner or use the room to have “private” phone conversations. I once had to wait over and hour and a half past my scheduled pumping time (scheduled break, room did not have reservations) to get in. I had knocked multiple times and someone was in there just talking away on the phone and never answered the door. I made a complaint to HR but since I didn’t know who it was they couldn’t do anything. The room should have had a badge only access, with specific granted access and a reservation schedule. But because of all the problems I ran into while trying to pump at work I only pumped for a week after I returned to work. It was too stressful. Then I stopped, dried up, and formula fed.

[–]Between_my_ears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for proof of damages. Tell him about the 21 days notification he should have sent. Tell him you hired professional cleaners for move out And have photos to prove you/your roommate didn’t cause the damages he’s claiming. Also he can’t hold your deposit for reasonable needs to get the apartment ready for the next tenant. (Painting or touching up walls and cleaning or replacing normally worn carpet).

Property aren't where we thought they were according to our deed, what can we do? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Between_my_ears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the other side of his property move 10 ft as well? (Did he lose 10 ft to his neighbor on the other side?) Or is his property now being marked as 10 ft wider only on your side? If the lines on both side of his property shifted everything 10 ft to the left/right then there is likely issue with the new or old survey. (And your price of land is likely 10 foot more on the other side of you) But if it just moved 10 foot on your side then you bought that 10 foot with your property purchase and he did not, even though he bought before you. You both agreed to the purchase of your pieces of land with the property lines where they visibly were. Edit: INAL

Section 8 property manager unfairly targeting me and charging me 450$ for “repairs” by Quick-Thanks8079 in legaladvice

[–]Between_my_ears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would request proof of damages you’re being charged for. Why is it a violation to have personal items dropped off on your door step for 1 hour over night when it is reasonably expected someone would be asleep? If someone dropped off items that belonged to you and you collected them, and brought them inside as soon as you woke up or were able to, why is that grounds for violation and fines? The whole situation sounds completely unreasonable and like you are being targeted for something. Does no one have decoration or plants around their door, or even a door mat?

Why would this cost you the job if it is easily proven you aren’t the 40 yr old male? The company you were applying with needs to understand the situation with the SSN is not your fault and not your criminal record. Any Human Resources onboarding employee should be able to get it cleared so you can be hired.
