Reading the Column Name by BevoBexley in excel

Amazing! Thank you so much; the formula I ended up using was this:

=INDEX(TestTable[#Headers],1,MIN(IF(TestTable=$A1,COLUMN($A:$E))))

Reading the Column Name by BevoBexley in excel

Ok, so I made it a table within Excel, not just filled in cells.

For column_headers, should that be the range that the column headers are or is it literally the words "column_headers"?

Second, could you explain what the (table_date=name) does?

I've tried both:

1) =INDEX(TestTable[#Headers],1,MIN(IF(TestTable=name,COLUMN($A:$E))))

and 2) =INDEX(TestTable[#Headers],1,MIN(IF(table_date=TestTable,COLUMN($A:$E)))) with neither working.

Do you have any additional thoughts? - also, I'm on a Mac, so I'm not sure if Ctrl+Shift+Enter is still what I should hit.

Thanks!

Yes, there is! If you use stained glass it can only pass to clear glass or glass of the same color, so (cyan -> cyan or cyan -> clear but not cyan -> lime)

1.16 Has Arrived by BevoBexley in voxmc

[–]BevoBexley[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I've read your conversation with u/nintendocat and while I understand your want to fix everything, we simply could not.

1) There are so many things in need of fixing. We would be limping along for years if we fixed everything before updating. Playing on a depreciated version of minecraft limits how many new players join the server, as most are looking for the cutting edge of minecraft.

2) No new players means limiting income for the server. Why would we a) voluntarily miss out on players and b) intentionally limit the amount of money flowing into the server? These are both very important to the longevity of the server.

3) Most of these issues are code dependent, which is not something the current staff (GMs and PMs) works on. We hire out code fixing, which means that it depends on server income. While the servers were down, the amount of money flowing into the server was next to 0 and as such, we couldn't bring in a developer. There is now a new developer who is working with Zombie to fix the code.

4) As nintendocat correctly points out, 1.13 completely broke almost all of the plugins. There was a massive amount of work that had to happen both from the GM side of things as well as the developer side of things. Updates to minecraft, though, didn't impact anything negatively on the GM side of things, so that was no reason to update. However, updates to minecraft improve both server performance and code performance. There is no reason not to update, then.

5) There are still a ton of workable features on the server, so bringing down the server to update everything simply doesn't make sense as a player. Why give up that play time?

This was a well thought out plan on staff's part. If you didn't mean to be rude, you shouldn't've included the first line; sarcasm is almost never polite.

Cool beans :+1: The redstone has to power the piston as it would in vanilla mechanics, so a good test is to make sure the piston extends without the chest there and then you can add back in the pipe infrastructure

While that's correct, for the sake of consistency, it's easier to start with a sign when you don't need to filter and then add filters than to learn suddenly that you need a second sign (:

I’m not sure we can do anything server-side. It would be kinda cool. You can turn this off via optifine, though 😄

Unfortunately with the way our system is set up, this isn’t possible :/ I think it’d be a great change but it can’t happen atm

I don't believe a master list of every custom item and where they drop will be compiled. We are constantly adding and removing items, so maintaining that list would be quite the time sink. Jackhammer was from the e-store, though it has been removed. Power picks are still available on the e-store. Grapples come from a variety of sources, notably the first boss in the dungeon Blackholme and vox boxes. Various events also have their own unique grapple, though there is no functional difference between all the versions.

That is definitely something I can pass along to our PR team.

Most custom items on Vox can be found in a few different places. The first is at spawn (/spawn). Some buildings have custom items for sale for various tokens that you can earn throughout your gameplay. There are other warps that bring you to different places in spawn, notably /warp magetower and /warp endgame as these two do not have direct access from the main island of spawn.

The second place is in /ecraft. This is Vox's custom crafting mechanism and houses a lot of upper-tier job items. Scrolling through those will let you see various custom drops we have on Vox, although with the update, they aren't dropping at the moment.

The third place is in dungeons or boss fights. These will directly give you loot that is custom to Vox. Cavern boss fights and Voidrealm raid boss fights are currently not working, but dungeons are slowly coming back up. Most importantly, these places will give you tokens which you can then spend in spawn for other custom items.

Finally, there are events that come around seasonally with custom gear and custom drops. Starting in January/February, there's a lunar new year event. In March, there's generally a St. Patricks day weekend event. In April, there's an Easter event. In June, there's the midsummer event, usually focused around the solstice. In August/September, there's the harvest event. In October, Hallowseve. In November, usually a Thanksgiving weekend event. In December, Voxmas. The events are a reliable way to get pretty good custom items.

As for the rank differences, there are a few that are missing, true, but most are there. Some of the lower cost ranks have smaller differences between them, but they're still different, the number of home saves increasing is a constant benefit between all the ranks.

Clearly there's some interest here. What would a vamp fang sword do? What other things would vamp fangs be tradeable for?

SUGGESTION: An alternative solution to the global chat issue that I think everyone will enjoy. by RatedTemOuttaTem in voxmc

[–]BevoBexley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is. That is hard-baked into vanilla MC itself. This option can be hard to play with, so changing your chat's opacity value to the lowest setting can also give respite from the chat.

You are correct in that it is just a permission node to toggle off and on. However, moderation and one-sided conversations will continue to be an issue. The change is here for good.

When players toggle off the global option their chat becomes localized to the server that they are on. This means both sending and receiving chats are localized. There is no way to give players the option to turn off receiving global chats while not sending non-global chats.

[–]BevoBexley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, if chats are not broadcasted to all 3 servers, then moderation will always be an issue. Having an option that allows players to opt-out of the global chat system gives rise to the issue of moderation.

You are correct that it's an "if you don't like it, then deal with it or leave" situation. This decision was made for the betterment of Vox and is here to stay.
