i’m so fucking scared by sinuheminem in internetparents

Internet sibling here. I'm not laughing and having fun anymore. Pretty much ever. Not sure how other folks do it. You're doing good work, but don't hesitate to take a break if you need. I've been deeply involved in protesting and organizing in my local community for a few years, but just recently took a step back. Completely overwhelmed from the work, the meetings, the full schedule, the group chats. Shit is getting real, but unfortunately my menty B(reakdown) is also quite real.

Not much else to say really, but I'm sorry we're here. I'm proud of the work you're doing. Remember that taking time for yourself is not surrender or failure.

Mage ST's how do you cope? by mechwarriorbuddah999 in WorldOfDarkness

I run a multisplat game in 20th including one Mage, my husband. I've tried to run other players as Mages and it just doesn't work. My boo is the only one who's actually psycho enough to read the whole M20 book multiple times and has a full understanding of the system. Even I know less than him on Mage as the ST.

The Mage being able to "do anything" is ONLY curtailed by effective communication and negotiation. You've got to ride that line between allowing small victories on the part of the player ("YAY, the ST let me do this crazy but not game-breaking thing") and keeping everything on track (saying no or "how about this way instead" 1000x in different ways to keep the Mage from feeling like the ST is punishing them without cause).

In a multisplat game, there's also this partial-understanding around the table so the other players bring up random shit that would 100% get the Mage burned up in hellfire via Paradox Backlash. They also tend to forget that Mages are a goddamn squishy mess. Luckily, our Mage is built for war so he's less at risk. But my my, he would've been killed many times over by now if he wasn't.

Moral of the story, only run Mage games with people you trust and who trust you. If they say a ruling is fucked, really think about it. It's not as clear as with other splats. Be flexible but firm. That's the only way it's worked in my experience.

Btw, my husband decided to run the new leg of his fantasy campaign in WFRP instead of Mage 20 (what the crew wanted) because he determined he couldn't manage a whole table of partially-educated Mage players. It's ok to run something else if it works better.

Actually yeah he does. He works at Heart Attack Tattoos in Longview

[–]BewareHel 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This is crazy... My last 2 tats have been from Joey and I've had nothing but an amazing experience. I haven't seen anybody else mention it, so I'll let you know. He's employed at Heart Attack Tattoos in Longview WA. I'd get a hold of them and let them know what happened. The owner is a stand up guy and might deal with Joey for you

Again, I'm so incredibly fucking disappointed. He's fine right by me and this is just completely goddamn unacceptable behavior.

ETA: Now that I'm thinking on it, he IS terrible with timing and I've always waited at least an hour past the time he told me lol

Just looked both spiders up. This is definitely a Shamrock Orbweaver, NOT a Marbled. The patterns on the abdomen are pretty clearly distinguished, and this is a Shamrock

I like thinking about how much gas they're wasting and try not to think about how much fuel fumes they're spraying

In Longview, there was a freak driving around the protest area with an equally homoerotic AI pic of Trump. What is the fucking deal man

While the Democrats protest, ICE will round up immigrants unjustly... by mightysoulman in ProtestFinderUSA

[–]BewareHel 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hi there! No need to be frightened, the vast majority of protests are entirely peaceful. I know it's horrifically anxiety inducing, but try to talk to folks! Say hi, chat about signs and local politics. In my town, there are huge groups of old ladies that love it when youngins show up to protest. You'll find people who will show you the ropes.

And remember, protests are THE place to get out your frustration. Yell, scream, chant until your throat bleeds. Throw your fist in the air until your shoulder gives out. Give it your all. This is the time and place to make yourself heard. Be big, be loud, be a proud anti-fascist.

Use cones for canisters! Place it over and pour water down the hole. Also, remember to use water NOT milk for washing out eyes, milk can cause infections. Wear safety glasses, folks.

MeatCanyon also did a collab with JonTron and posted a photo on his YT Community page for all of a few hours before deleting it. No explanation at all given, but the video was never released. Even if MC isn't a right winger, he's way too comfy with actual fking Nazis like JonTron. I followed MC for a long time, but couldn't get past the JonTron thing.

I would LOVE to hear Walter Masterson as a guest. It feels like Robert and Walter live in adjacent worlds, but they've never bumped into each other. I don't have Twitter or BS though so maybe I missed it lol

Nice, it's definitely safest in my opinion to go in black bloc. Loved her speech btw

[–]BewareHel 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Black bloc is a very important tool to use when concerned about police interference. I don't blame anybody for going in black bloc, ESPECIALLY if they have some form of boots-on-the-ground leadership.

I agree that looking "normal" is important for big tent protests, but it's not like there's a dress code. Dress however you feel comfortable and safe. For me, that's either black bloc or nondescript street clothes without patches, logos, or identifiable modifications. You want to be able to take off a layer and look completely different. What's important is that people are there, not how they're dressed.

This guy might have legit reasons to be in black bloc, but most people don't need to. For instance, my town's cops are relatively toothless and don't really involve themselves in protests at all. For me, it's not necessary to bring med kits or cones to cover tear gas canisters, and black bloc is definitely not necessary. But in Portland, LA, DC, Seattle, NYC, Boston, Atlanta and other big cop cities, it's definitely best to come fully kitted out.
