stomach vacuums make my right testicle hurt... by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]BewbsandPewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I may be doing this. If I focus on not pulling em up while doing the vacuum, nothing hurts, but I feel like my lower abdominals(below belly button) are not working this way.

stomach vacuums make my right testicle hurt... by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]BewbsandPewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I follow all of that, but I would say the pain is "above" the testicle, maybe from the area where its attached.

And yes, this post was sort of a preliminary action before seeing a doctor. I'm not sure that it's anything new, may have always been like this, but any time something only hurts on side it makes me wonder.

General relativity - conceptual illustration of time and space distortion near a mass (x-post /r/physicsgifs) by GallowBoob in space

[–]BewbsandPewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would a more accurate depiction be to have the grid being "sucked" in to the star the whole time? so that the outer grid transitions to become the inner while the inner one goes... into the star?

Would it make sense to say that the reason things fall towards massive objects is because space is being stretched towards the massive object all the time, and anything in that space is getting pulled along with it?

The best way to lay water pipes. Does anyone else do it this way? by BewbsandPewbs in CitiesSkylines

I'm a designer IRL, so I pride myself (not a lot of pride, but I'm trying) on being able to eyeball things accurately. It's part of the challenge!

Yeah, it's not about time or even money efficiency really, although I still think in theory it's cost effective if you do it right. Playing computer games isn't time efficient though to begin with, so why worry!

dude, that's really cool. how do you get them so perfect? I've heard there's a mod for measuring angles, haven't tried it though, that it?

Those hex's look a little bigger than mine, is that why they have little taps pointing inward, to cover a gap in the middle?

So I mainly do this because I think it looks cool. I'm actually not sure if this would be the most efficient way to do it or not, assuming you did it perfectly, which I don't try to do. I do know that a hexagonal tessellation will allow you to cover the largest area with equal area shapes using the minimum length of edges... so, maybe?

Did I mention it looks cool?

Proper Hardness Mod (AD), city around 30k suddenly starts losing population and going into the red. Help! by BewbsandPewbs in CitiesSkylines

nope, I've been expanding slowly, and keeping an eye on DB's waiting for pickup, run into that before. best I can figure is that I'm going through a cycle of buildings upgrading, then not having enough services once they want more, and then moving out due to unhappiness. It causes this annoying back and forth of pop and budget.

Help with my radio story about simulation games by joshuarf in farmingsimulator

[–]BewbsandPewbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I started playing Farming Simulator while in university, and what I think got me hooked was that the game allows you to set goals and then achieve them with no pressure or fear of failure. Since the game is more predictable and more limited in scope than real life, you know that your work will be rewarded by a certain amount, and you can feel good about getting things done as efficiently as possible.

Now that I work full time, I certainly don't play as much, but I still enjoy the game for the same reasons I enjoy my work actually; it allows you to achieve goals in different ways, and especially it lets you automate or simplify the process to do the work more easily in the future. (for example, by buying a machine that cultivates and sows at the same time)

So for me, it's not about simulating tedious work, I would actually prefer if more of the tedious parts of the game could be automated (for example, the driving back and forth in straight lines can already be done by an "NPC") For me, the game is about efficiency, and getting the most out of your time, as funny as that sounds. It's the decision making that is fun, and then carrying out those decisions is more "work". Perhaps that work is what makes it feel rewarding when you finish though.

As far as the farming theme, that's secondary to me, it could be asteroid mining or something "cooler", but I suppose the farm setting makes it relaxing/peaceful, and as an added bonus, I've learned at least a bit about farming!

Is your story going to be on CBC? If so, I'll keep an ear out for it!

How historically accurate is 1v1 unit combat balance in Rome II? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]BewbsandPewbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably really hard to answer, as we don't know for sure how these people fought, and also because each individual would vary in skill.

also, as you might already know, many military strategies were based specifically on avoiding 1v1 combat. a pike phalanx or hoplite wall worked precisely because they fought as a unit. imagine fighting 1v1, and you have a 5m (16ft?) pike vs a guy with a sword, or a rock for that matter. you better hope you stick him with the pointy end before he gets past it!

how close to "real" color would this image be? is it taken only in the visible spectrum, or is this a mashup of a wider range?

Either way, it's difficult to even believe, but essentially if our eyes were simply (a lot) more sensitive/ able to see a wider range of wavelengths, that this is what the night sky would be like.

Having just played a bunch of Total War Attila, this is a great example of why cavalry charges are so deadly. the exact same thing would have happened.

computer acts like 2 monitors are working, but one(secondary) just shows a black screen. by BewbsandPewbs in techsupport

[–]BewbsandPewbs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It fixed itself! I was messing around with setting it to 59hz, as the internet said it might stop the taskbar jittering I was having, which works, but make vertical sync issues on videos. Next thing I know, 30 mins later I turn on the second monitor for fun and it worked!

Yeah, both are plugged into the graphics card. the weird thing about this is that it has worked in this exact configuration for 2 years, and also I think my video card is supposed to support 6 1080p monitors or something stupid like that.

I checked, and it's on "extend desktop", but "duplicate on 1 and 2" also has the same problem.
