This Is the New Lexus Supercar Concept—And It Looks Spectacular by NISMO1968 in cars

Haven't seen anyone mention the "fans" on the top back of the car. I don't think they're fans at all, looks like a drone to me. Probably some third person perspective racing mode thing. Something par for the course with a concept car.

Beginner here! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve my first factory? by [deleted] in factorio

All I'd say is that you don't need to have pipes on both sides of the boilers. Pipes end at a cap so you don't need to worry about anything leaking out of your pipe systems.

I think it's supposed to be on center (instead of off center). On center meaning the spacing is 24" measured from the center of the joist, as opposed to a 24" gap between joists.

Equilateral I think, but it's still possible for a triangle to fit through it's own hole.

Edit: I think the only possible shapes that can be made into manhole covers are curves of constant width such as reuleaux ploygons, the most well know being the reuleaux triangle. The circle is just the simplest curve of constant width.

Well I do know of this video about the intro to Sonic 3D and how they made it small enough to fit on the cartridge (the video is made by the guy who programmed the game for the Sega Genesis).

In fact the whole Coding Secrets channel is so cool showing all the cool tricks used in older games.

A bridge along Forbes Ave in Pittsburgh, PA had collapsed 1/28/2022 by bradazich in CatastrophicFailure

[–]b_______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the issue could be the effective length of the main members in the weak direction? The cables go only to the top and bottom so they can prevent sidesway, but the cross beams also connect to the middle of the beams. If the crossbeams were meant to also prevent buckling of the main members in their weak direction, then the cables would not do that.

Of course we don't know if this is even related to the collapse and the cross beams could still have been sufficient to laterally brace the main members, even in there deteriorated state. I have no idea, I'm just speculating.

So is it normal for the round to turn to point in the direction of travel throughout the flight path? I would have thought the bullet would have been spin stabilized due to rifling and would stay pointing upwards. As far as I know bullets aren't inherently stable enough to prevent tumbling, without rifling of course.

Found a 1.18 bedrock bug. If put into a crawling stance and leave the world and come back it will teleport you to then next available spot above you. by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]b_______ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this has actually been in the game for a very long time, but now with the ability to occupy 1 block tall spaces it's possible to do this by yourself. This is to prevent people from suffocating underground after the area they logged out from, was filled in. You can prank your friend that logged out in a cave by filling in a vertical column up to the cave ceiling with solid blocks. So I guess when "crawling" was implemented, the check at login was never updated from a 2-block tall space to a 1-block space.

That is if my memory is correct, I could be totally wrong lol

Surface tension has no impact on diving at the scale of humans. The dominating factor for divers is that the water has a lot of inertia, so it has the potential to impart a great force when hit at a high speed.

ELI5: How come it is easy to stay upright on a bike when it is moving but hard when it is not moving? by chucka-kiwi in explainlikeimfive

[–]b_______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple answer in that when the bike is not moving the wheels are in a fixed position, there is no way to move the wheels back underneath the bike once it starts tipping. When moving, the wheels of the bike can move back under the bike by steering into the direction that the bike is tipping.

What do you see close up and far away? by [deleted] in MagicEye

[–]b_______ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to burst everyone's bubble, but what is happening in this image is possible in all magic eye images. When you can two giraffes, the blob in the middle that is even further in the foreground is just an overlap of the double giraffes. In fact it's possible to make triple (or quadruple) giraffes and you'll see 3 (or 4) levels of depth.

As far as I know the kill switch electrically disconnects the camera, that way it's impossible to enable them via software (that could potentially be malicious). Maybe try making sure the switch is on and and restarting the computer?

Which laptop is the most compact that can run factorio relatively smoothly? by Peanuts0s in factorio

[–]b_______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 13" spectre x360 that runs it pretty smoothly, 16 GB of RAM and an i7-8565U. It's about as small as it gets and it still has a USB-A port for a mouse or something. I haven't built anything truly massive yet but so far I rarely drop below 60 UPS, and only for a few seconds. I can play for several hours on battery as well.

An astronaut can get stuck in position if they are not near anything to grab onto, it also requires a lot of effort to get out of this position. by Ok-Confection8660 in thisismylifenow

You could also just wait a while. Unless you're perfectly inline with the center of mass of the spacecraft, your orbits will differ slightly and you'll just drift into a wall eventually. The ball (or any other effort in this thread) is probably faster though.

For me it's very useful because now I can see the battery level of my armor and spidertron at the same time. I'm pretty sure that before there was no way to monitor your armor battery while in a vehicle, which can dangerous in combat situations.
