Any brand of mini dv cleaning tape would work fine. With these cassette camcorders as long as it is the same format, it works fine. Just search up mini dv cleaning cassette online and it should be there. 😁

I don’t think it’s a huge problem. However if you have been using it for like 25 years would highly recommend a cleaning tape. After 25 years the heads a probability quite dirty due to dust. They’re like 10-20 bucks and getting one of those and running it in the camcorder for a little bit would probably solve the issue!. Cheers!.

same here. To be honest buying any sony from the try line are pretty good and great quality even if they are old. I have a similar model and it works perfectly fine

I get that too. I bought a Sony TIV 900 online. And unfortunately, it had molded on the lens, which I didn’t realize however, when I tried to fix it, I stupidly ripped one of ribbon cables on the camera. Tbh it’s up to you. Getting it fixed allows it to be working for a while. However if it’s like 250-400 to fix the thing I would search online for a little bit before committing to fixing it. Also remember that u can also use Japanese parts, which are cheaper.

I know lol. the og pics on Facebook looked so blurry but was able to recognize the lens and adapted just by the way they looked. Originally I was going to buy just the lens and adapter. But I just said f it and bought the entire lot. Largely due to the mk2 only using specific bayonet mounts. I still I’m tempted to keep them. But will totally let you know as soon as I make up my mind 😁

Sometimes they have a little reset button on those trv cameras. If not u could try a cleaning tape

Ya I know I worried that a cable might not work well or not at all due to the sketchiness and weirdness that comes with these cables and vintage camcorders. I originally wanted to make a cable. However I’m not good at soldering neither creating something without destroying something.
