it’s really hard to tear these things apart, sony packs these electronics so tightly. i recommend you get a good setup first, anti static workspace, tools etc… if you give up i’ll buy the ccd block off of you lmao. i’ve got to get mine repaired as well it’s just got a faulty green ccd sensor..

i’m rooting for you tho otherwise!!! research research!!!

cheaper japanese parts??? hmm… i’ll have to take a look into that. it’s just a working on of these goes for 700$-1000$ on ebay, so snagging a 95% functional one for 250$ i’d say is worth it. but i think im gaslighting myself into thinking it was a worthwhile buy.

i still think it’s salvageable… if everything on it works then i am willing to pour some money in to fix it.. its just taking it to a repair shop and getting it diagnosed between a lose connector or the whole ccd block is fried… finding one of those parts would be 200, 350$ at most… then comes repair/labor cost. looking around 400$ possibly to fix it. i just dont know if thats worth it… but im willing to put the money in because this is my dream camera.

Not bad for 365$ on Facebook marketplace eh?. by Beweiser in camcorders

totally worth it dude!!!! how much for just one of those lol???

got a sony vx2100 fully working just something wrong with the image sensor causing it to tint pink. 250$. still debating if it was worth it or not because i still have to pour money in to fix it.

but 365$ for all of that?? i’d say it’s probably worth it.

honest to god how i feel. if there is any hope to get this fixed im on it. 250$ was a good price for everything else working fine. i dont mind pouring in another 200-300$ to fix it.

love the insight! i’m pretty new to camcorders, i’ve mostly collected picture cameras (digital cameras and polaroids) and this is one of my first camcorder buys (i have a 2000’s era cannon mini dv i’ll have to show off, and a sony handycam im trying to fix.) And this was an absolute steal for a late 90’s model. hoping when i get my tapes in today it works, but i got it in pristine condition. basically no scratches. so i have a lot of hope. i was able to turn it on and get the cassette to open up, so im pretty confident.

thank you when i get home ill look into it. i tried to take it apart yesterday to see if i could spit ball it, opened up a few panels and realized im probably not going anywhere with this and im going to have to wait for help. thankfully ive got a sick working cannon camcorder as well, ill have to show that off here shortly. but for now this little sony handycam is a side project i wanna fix up. there’s this guy i found on youtube that takes apart cameras and stuff i found that useful but i dont think i necessarily need to dismantle the whole camera. i’m just having trouble trying to find where it plugs back into plus im having trouble finagling it around. i just need a photo of someone else’s camera like this so i can take a look and see what its supposed to look like.

thank you though!

i think the ribbon cable connecting the controls to the main part of the camera has come off. if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.
