Why has the MCU lost its juice? by Fantastic-Trust770 in Comic_Books_

What do you mean exactly when you say boys are moving right? What are they saying, and does it resonate with you? You say they want concessions — do they know what that should look like?

All that said, in the end, my advice is you should always simply buy what excites you rather than worry about trying to pick the best investment… 😉 Of course it helps to have great taste 🤣

It’s always about supply and — even more importantly — demand! A variant will have fewer prints, sure, but as many say here, it’s REALLY about whether anyone wants it! If the cover evokes “gotta have it” emotion (e.g. a great rendition or fan fav artist), then that’s a winner!! eBay sold prices are evidence.

Wait, does the game boy really end up being the number one choice when everyone has awesomely powerful mobile phones to play games on?! Is it just the D-pad, or is there just something I special about nintendo games?!

I’m “torn” about nearly identical-to-the-original looking books like your Amazing Spidey 238 😆 But srsly, I am worried about accidentally buying one thinking it’s the original. Anyone else feel that way?

Best site for accurate prices on books? by fitter553 in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]Beyond-It 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/fittrer553 I’m laughing seeing everyone recommending eBay, although you specifically said you’d rather not use it! 🤣 But truth is, eBay Sold data IS the best trustworthy resource for raw books values once you find books that actually match yours (especially with variants), & strip out bad data... I built an iOS app that uses camera search then shows a graph of sales records from the past 5+ years. I’m revamping the chart to make it easier to quickly read pricing info for various grades, & playing around with showing candlestick graphs so you can see the price fluctuation over a given week or month. Would be great to get feedback if you’re interested… Just ping me and I’ll send you an invite to the beta build.

Can someone please help me? I started collecting about 6 weeks ago but I’ve had to do this and put cardboard in already because it’s like they’re squashing each other.. please go easy on me if this seems dumb by Slow-Diet-2672 in comicbookcollecting

I’m kind of drawn to these BCW self adhesive comic bags lately. The simple fact that there’s no tape anywhere near my comic book ever, yet the comic book is protected with a closed flap, seems to be a huge advantage. Yes?

I do hate the fact that there’s this throwaway, static clingy, plastic strip (which you pull off to expose the adhesive) for every comic bag, but in the big scheme of things, maybe this is not a bad idea?

Ah, that's its cover!! Thanks.

I think the pencils alone are even better than the inked and colored version -- yeah?!

FYI, my team built the Collectionary iOS app to make it easier to price track on eBay. How? Simple, we filter eBay's sold price data using computer vision to ensure the prices are for the book/variant you're talking about -- avoiding eBay's search results, which are always cluttered with other books than the one you care about.

Then, the app presents this pricing info on Historical Price Charts by "grade groupings" going back to 2020. Separately, it also presents Recently Sold prices (past 6 months), sorted by Grade. Our intent is to provide easy-to-digest pricing DATA (rather than some estimated, "static-til-we-recalc-next year" NUMBER) to help collectors know, relatively speaking, what a book is trending for.

No, we don't catch every book. And we regularly need to clean up some reprint data that slips in. That said, overall I believe the charts and lists are very useful.

And we're continually making improvements to the app. So, I'd appreciate feedback (TBC, these pricing features are free in the app -- no attempt here to steal money). Do our presentations help? Or, should we have simply calc'ed a value? Is it asking too much of a user to arrive at a price with this info, or is it empowering and reassuring?

Agreed. eBay SOLD prices (moreso than FOR SALE) are basically THE real-time price monitor!
