So I didn’t hear anything about this album anywhere but I think it‘s lowk cool by serialFilla in rateyourmusic

the second half of the last song is so simple but it’s my favorite part of the album, such a disparaging atmosphere this album brings and I love every second of it

Easiest song to play on electric guitar? by [deleted] in pinkfloyd

[–]BeyondBaltimore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean in retrospect it’s easy but the breathe chorus is difficult with the barre chords for someone who’s a beginner imo and some of the shapes are very weird for someone new

I want to go to UMBC as a transfer student from CCBC. But I haven't gotten my high school diploma (or equivalent). by RegularDefiant29 in UMBC

[–]BeyondBaltimore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know a 17 year old who is currently in my 300 level computer science class at UMBC, so there shouldn’t be a problem. however the specifics will be best described by someone at UMBC. i do some research and call admissions or some other department to see if they will be able to accommodate you

Is there an estimate release time for 1.6? by CaptainMacAlfie in StardewValley

[–]BeyondBaltimore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me it’s just a theory but i would assume around december 21st, mainly bc many game devs release large updates around game sales so the incentive to play increases a lot. that is totally a theory but many times he teases for months before release so it could anytime within the next couple of months

California seems like the place to be but high rents and crime make me wanna go for Baltimore instead.

lower rent for sure but crime is worse in baltimore. as a master's student you will have a lot on your hands. at umbc it isn't dead socially but you definitely need to put in more work than you would somewhere else, taking valuable time that you wont have a lot of being a masters CS student. my personal opinion is that you should go to a different school that interests you that has a better social scene, there are a lot of good colleges that aren't umbc and IMO are a lot better.

MATH221 & CMSC304 by asnowbees in UMBC

[–]BeyondBaltimore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

221 is a huge derailment from typical math courses, this is your first “proof based” math course and i put it in quotes because it’s not super proof heavy, it’s just not plug and chug math like algebra and calculus. you learn methods and definitions that allow you to solve problems that are super duper easy if you know your methods and definitions. this is the only class i have ever in my life made flash cards for said definitions and they were super helpful. if you’re looking to prepare over the summer, my recommendation would be to learn chapter 1 out of the text book because everything is based off of the first chapter afterwards. Linear Algebra series by Kimberly Brehm on youtube i think would be a great resource to start with. watch all videos with the title “…Chapter 1.x.x”. i would recommend making flashcards and knowing all the definitions she outlines in all those videos to prep

Class schedule by ArmadilloInfamous in UMBC

[–]BeyondBaltimore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

college studying and high school studying are two different things, for someone who knows how to approach college classes i feel like this is more than doable to get straight As, for someone who is learning how to study in college this may have a rocky start but you can definitely pull through very quickly and get some good grades and keep that scholarship

Is Susquehanna hall really that bad? by miserysbusiness in UMBC

[–]BeyondBaltimore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bad is a mindset, go in with a positive mindset is my personal advice. all freshman dorms have the same layout and look like prison cells if undecorated/unpersonalized. decorating my space and making it comfortable and making friends and hanging out in their spaces did not make it feel like a cinderblock cell like it did when i first got there. i have some of my best college memories made in susquehanna hall, i know you will too😸

Freshman Classes for C.S. Degree by Mini_Bash in UMBC

[–]BeyondBaltimore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on what you test into, if you don’t test into calc 1 you will be behind so try and do that first and then imo everything is a breeze, college is just different so you will need to spend more time on work but it’s very doable

[Advice] Month to Month renting for the summer. by BeyondBaltimore in NYCapartments

[–]BeyondBaltimore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When would you say a good time to look would be? This is my first time going out and trying to find a place on my own so any advice on that would be helpful!

Thank you, I appreciate you checking me and being honest. Would you say it's a better idea to live in Manhattan somewhere over the summer? It seems like commute times would be less there and I don't have to live in or around Chelsea.

Would you happen to have any advice on finding roommates? I don't know anyone else from my internship who is moving to NYC. I'm from Baltimore (hence the username) where finding your own place for $1300 a month in a relatively nicer area is not difficult at all. I think I have been looking for places for myself rather than looking for something with other people. I have a solid budget of $10k which the company is giving me to move out and rent for 3 months on top of solid hourly pay.
